Are there more wheels or doors in the world?
Are there more wheels or doors in the world?
For clarification purposes, any wheel counts as a wheel and any door counts as a door.
Car wheel, bike wheel, chair wheel, etc.
Car door, front door, doll house door, etc.
Every time I confidently think wheel, I start to think of more doors, and vice versa.

Do doorwalls count? What about pocket doors?

It's wheels. I won't debate this. If you're a Doorest, we can't be friends, so fuck off.

Yes I saw it on Reddit but it's a perfect conversation for this forum. Completely mindless, until you start to think about it.

That's a bold stance. The battery door on every device I've ever owned may disagree with you.

Think of all the train and truck wheels. Not even close.

How many of those trains and trucks also include a non-zero number of doors? Conversely, how many cabinets have wheels?

It should be windows vs. wheels.

Think of all the train and truck doors, and cupboard doors, and appliance doors. In my house we definitely have more doors than wheels. Multiply that by all the houses in the world.
Train and truck wheels ain't winning this argument.

Sorry a battery compartment doesn’t have a door. It’s a cover.
I think it’s exactly equal, an undiscovered law of physics, and you can’t prove me wrong.

Interesting theory. Are you a Spur Theorist or Downrigger?
And battery doors are doors, especially on my remote because it's on the bottom. You can't have a cover on the bottom. Covers go over.

Not even close ... way more wheels. Look at all the wheels in an ICE.

As ICEs become obsolete the number of wheels will drastically reduce.

Do secret doors count? And how do you count them if they’re all concealed?

If non-functional doors are still doors (and I submit that they are), then hot wheels have a non-zero number of doors counterbalancing that a bit.
I'm also not willing to concede that gears and sprockets are wheels. If we are counting anything round that rotates as a wheel, then knobs are in and wheels probably beat doors, but I don't think that's correct to do.
Pulleys typically contain wheels, but are not themselves wheels. I would want an engineer of some sort to weigh in, but I don't think a wheel is an absolute necessity in a pulley.

When I sat between him and the TV, my dad said I made a better door than a window, and he never called me a wheel. Outside of that I had wheels by one, so I'll say it's a tie.

Rotating hinges are wheels.

LOL! Why? Every door usually has at least two hinges, which are based on the wheel.Cameron wrote:Trapper Gus wrote:

Rotating hinges are wheels.
Even if that were true (it's for sure not), you can make a door using a single hinge.

Accepted, however most doors have at least two hinges and many have three or four.
Also, a rotating latch, aka door knob, is a wheel.

Go back and think about all the wheels, aka things that turn around an axis, there are in a car.

I'm not willing to concede that anything that rotates 1° or more on an axis is a wheel.

None of which you’ll find at my house. Thanks for selling my enormous collection of original Hot Wheels and Matchbox Toys, mom. I’m still not sure how you decided whether to price each for $.50 or $.25, but you managed to sell them all. Each and every one of them gone. Yes you did.

Crank shaft, cam shaft, all the pumps, generators, A/C compressors are rotating endlessly.

Now if you want to drop down into QED or QCD all the basic particles rotate endlessly around other basic particles, with few doors, other than quantum tunneling.
And there are literally googolplexes of those rotating particles.

Now that I think about it, everything on the globe is rotating around the axis of rotation, and the globe is rotating around the sun, which is rotating around the Milkyway., which is rotating in the near cluster, which is rotating ad infinitum ...

Sort of, but object in rotation are way more prevalent than objects which open and shut.
