It looks like Adam Nightingale looked at the recruiting landscape and has arrived at the same conclusion Auburn's basketball coach Bruce Pearl came to not sinking all your recruiting efforts towards incoming freshman.

There are players 1-2 -3 years older and bigger/stronger/faster who've already played D1 hockey and for whatever reasons are looking for a new situation who can help a class more than all freshman.

For the sports where the numbers on the field/court/rink are limited one or two players can have more of an impact. (If you can get a Kenneth Walker even in football) Seems like we will see if this model of building a team works on a longer term, but coaches have to try it.

Could be a big boom for MSU and others. Seems like the same teams have been sucking up all the talent for the past few decades. There should be plenty guys looking to make a move.

Can the hockey guys let us know what the victory goal might be to get into the NCAA.? What are we looking at in terms of total points or place in the league? I’m woefully ignorant on such things. Also, realistic finish in the league this year?

Hard to say, but we were 18-18-2 last year and missed the dance by probably 1 or 2 wins. In terms of news rankings, we realistically need to be within the top-15 to make it, although technically it’s done by Pairwise rankings.

Potential for the B1G? It’s a best of 3 tournament, so anything can happen. We’re right there in the mix with the top teams (Minnesota and scUM)
