Too funny that he has an Associate Head Coach role now.
Is an Associate Head Coach allowed to Coach players?

Thinking this through a little bit.
If it makes sense to get Houser some playing time for development and ideally he’s your QB for the future, and you’d like to keep him out of the portal…. Wouldn’t it have been better to name MD the interim coach? He obviously wouldn’t be a permanent hire candidate. No conflict of program interest.
Barnett is coaching for the job and he will go with the guy (Kim) that gives him the best chance of winning now which might be counterproductive to the long term betterment of the program. Odds are none of this staff is going to be here with the new hire. Kinda feels like this season is going to do more long term damage on the 5% chance all of this works with HB.

Isn't the freshman QB supposed to have the best abilities. If so, then run him out there to play?
While Tucker wasn't recruiting as well as we would like he has brough in some talent, but the best way to develop it is how it has always been done. With the new coach & staff up in the air holding onto players when Tucker is fired, and the 30-day transfer window occurs just isn't going to happen.
Re: Mr Dantonio, Matt Ishbia on line 1
Still don't understand the rationale to put Dantonio on the sidelines pacing up and down essentially doing nothing. I get it, the guy was our best coach since Duffy. When Izzo retires are we going to have him sit at the end of the bench if the next coach hits a bad stretch?
If HB can't be trusted to be head coach, than somebody else should have the job.
The problem Saturday wasn't the QB. We are resurrecting the old cliché that the most popular player on a football team is the backup QB.

Tucker was recruiting OK. The next class (2024) wasn't looking great.

I'd bet his job was to be the hype man. Scare/motivate/intimidate the kids into playing above their head....(didn't work)

I just think we were caught so off guard. Haller started grabbing for any lifeline that was there. I don’t envy any of them. Three good Spartans Dantonio Barnett and Haller. All trying to just help by cleaning up a mess.
Tucker messed this thing up. Great idea bringing in an abuse survivor to speak to the team, horrible judgement pursuing a relationship with her. Now some good Spartans are left mopping up a Wisconsin badgers mess.

I'm giving everyone a pass for the Washington game.
But, they're on the clock now.

Spartans getting +6 at home to Maryland pretty much tells you where we’re at.

Dantonio is Barnett’s consiglieri. Experienced with another set of HC eyes and ears at practice and on the sidelines.
Haller has moved Barnett to interim HC and brought back Dantonio who built MSU football back to the place they beat umaa regularly. Haller knows and trusts both. Dantonio is a steady observer with no drama. Not just walking the sidelines doing Brady Hoke clapping.
MSU football is a train wreck. It doesn’t need some over caffeinated coaches adding more drama than the team has already seen in the last 2 weeks.
Mel Tucker fooled a number of people including DHR’s Glenn Sugiyama, Haller, AD Beekman, and members of the search committee when he interviewed. Guarantee they will all say Tucker said all the right things when interviewed. But 4 years ago Tucker appeared to be a happily married man with a loyal football wife, 2 sons and they all were happy for the stability MSU was providing.
New suggestions? Seriously, ask in month with 50% of the season done, Tuckers’s hearing provides some closure and just maybe the identity of who talked to USA Today is known.

Be wary of any coaching candidate coming in to the interview with a 3-ring binder laying out plans for modernizing MSU football.
