The Annual/Official Battle for the Double Bye at the Big Ten Tournament Thread (AOBDBBTTT)
(Top 4 seeds get the Double Bye and rest until Friday)
3. MSU 9-6 (Remaining SOS = 52) Iowa, OSU, @Purdue, NW, @IU
Northwestern 9-6 (65) UM, @Maryland, Iowa, @MSU, Minny
Wisconsin 9-6 (35) Maryland, @IU, Illinois, Rutgers, @Purdue
6. Nebraska 8-7 (74) @IU, Minny, @OSU, Rutgers, @UM
We're 0-2 vs. Wisconsin, 0-1 vs. Northwestern (with one more game), and 0-1 vs. Nebraska. Not great for tiebreakers. Might have to go 13-7 to lock up one of the top 4 spots.

Not great for tiebreakers is an understatement.
No chance if it is a tie except for NW, and what is the next tiebreaker after head-to-head, since the best it could be is 1-1?
Seems like MSU needs to be 3rd or tied with one other team for 3rd to get the doublebye. Untied for 4th if there is no tie for 3rd is the other possibility.

After head to head records, the next tiebreaker is record against teams (starting at the top of the standings).
Northwestern is 1-1 against Purdue. So, we need to beat Purdue if we're tied just with Northwestern.

But NW played them twice, how is that fair?

NW playing the top team twice, and MSU only having to play the top team once, is more than fair

Wisconsin has to play Purdue twice also, and it's to our benefit (if Purdue wins both obviously). It is what it is.
We made our bed by losing to Wisconsin twice.

Advantage MSU, yes, but in the non-partisan world, WTF B1G, get a better system.

I am more concerned about finishing 4-1 in the regular season and then 1-1 in the tournament. Will that jump us to a six seed or a five seed? If we play Thursday night in the Big Ten tournament. It might give us two victories that we might need. I given up on trying to figure this stuff out. Just.Win.

I think if we finish 4-1, we (at least) jump to a 6 seed. Beating Purdue would get us higher.

3. Wisconsin 10-6 (Remaining SOS 20) @IU, Illinois, Rutgers, @Purdue
4. Northwestern 9-6 (65) UM, @Maryland, Iowa, @MSU, Minny
5. MSU 9-7 (Remaining SOS 35) OSU, @Purdue, NW, @IU
6. Nebraska 8-7 (66) @IU, Minny, @OSU, Rutgers, @UM
Nebraska @ IU tonight.
I thought we had a shot at going 4-1 in our last 5 (with a loss to Purdue). I'm guessing we play on TH now, unless we get some help.
