Drew Stanton looking great tonight
Just threw a strike for a TD and has moved the team well.
Great guy and great Spartan. I hope he gets a chance to start for a team some day. ( The brief chance for the liedowns doesn't count )

He was a Warrior. Took a beating when he played.

I'm willing to bet he would disagree with this.

He was never really given a real shot with that pathetic organization. He only played because the guys in front of him went down.
He wasn't ready and would be the first guy to tell you that.
He is now.

I'll concede the circumstances weren't ideal, but the fact is he still managed to start a handful of games, including ones where Detroit beat teams competing for playoff spots. That experience was as helpful as it was memorable for him.

The experience was certainly helpful and I know his dream was to be the guy in Detroit.
But he was not ready and the team was brutal. Now is the time for Drew to shine, if he ever gets the chance.

I hate to say it, but I saw him in person against the Texans and he was terrible.
I know he was a good QB in school (I only rooted for MSU when they played Michigan until I started attending in 2008), but if Stanton was the bright spot of the JLS era, I shudder to think what you poor bastards endured in the mid 2000s.

We have been through a lot but I don't see how having an NFL qb fits in to illustrate the struggles. Any player that makes the NFL even for a year is damn good.

"NFL QB" could mean anything. He is well below average right now. Every MSU team since has had an "NFL QB".
He looked awful when I saw Cardinals vs. Texans in Glendale...nearby Cards fans shared that sentiment. It's fair to say that my sample size is small, but this is a guy who was the face of MSU for multiple seasons. It makes me appreciate what we have now even more.

Stanton was a gamer. The dude left it all on the field in college and with the Lions. I think Martz really messed him up trying to "fix" his mechanics. Despite that he won games even though it wasn't pretty.

By NFL qb I mean he plays the quarterback position in the national football league. Not sure what else you think it could mean.

I was at the Seahawks game watching Terrel Pryor. If you think Stanton is bad man does he suck. I didn't start rooting for OSU to win any games until they got Urban Meyer so I can only imagine the hell OSU fans went through before that.

Just let him do what he's going to do. You can't fix it. He can't even fix himself at this point, he's just broken.

!
There are 96 QB jobs in the league. Stanton has had one of those jobs for 7 years. He's an NFL QB.

Some crazy stats:
The 2005 MSU offense was ranked 5th in the nation in total yards and 15th in scoring points.
The 2013 MSU offense was 84th in yards and 69th in points.

Which should tell us everything we need to know about defense winning championships.

Yeah, that time he lead the #5 O in the nation, it was hard to watch him play.
And he was pitiful vs. Texas, only going 11-17 for 154 and a TD.

Like I said, I only have a limited amount of knowledge on Drew's history at MSU, but listening to Mike Valenti's ND 2006 rant made it clear that he would dominate the weak teams and folded against strong teams.
That, to me, sounds like a classic case of Denard Robinson syndrome.

Basing your opinion on Valenti's rant tells me all I need to know.

5-7, Wikipedia doesn't count the PSU game as a loss.
Gameday was in EL for that one, we wore all greens and got thrashed.
Do not miss those days.
