It's Game On! Ground Rules.

We are set up with a real live account. Myself and Corner Blitz will have admin access to the account to place bets. Our "number" is $1000. If we are up $1000 or greater come Monday morning on any given week, we get paid. If we are down $1000 or more come Monday morning on any given week, we pay the man.

Sign up period is now CLOSED for the first "session". The session will end when we either get paid or have to pay the man.

CB and I will put plays in, but we will not do so without your consent. We will start a thread every week where you can post your nominations for plays. When you nominate a play, you must nominate a cut off time for putting that bet in. We will put the bet in if a simple majority OF THOSE WHO HAVE VOTED have voted 'yay' for the bet by that cut off time. YOU MUST ALSO PROPOSE A $ AMOUNT FOR THAT BET. Any line changes will, unfortunately, be negligible. We can't limit who votes in polls so nominations and votes will all have to be posted in that week's thread. Please make sure that you understand how vig/juice works. If you don't, ask.

Payouts/rebuy will occur as follows: If we wind up > $1000 on a Monday, I will paypal you back (whatever$weareup/17). Your original investment will remain with me unless you choose to opt out for the next go round. I will hold everyone's initial investment in the event that we need to pay the man out at any given time. If we decide to nix the experiment after we've gotten paid, you will obviously get your original investment back.

Sounds like the funds won't be a problem. I'll talk to my guy about getting an account set up. Does anyone want to volunteer to be co-point person for the account? I don't want to share the login with the entire group, because we can't have everyone in there making different picks, playing casino games, etc. But it would be nice if we had another person who could put bets in if I wasn't around.

Also, before you sign up, please make sure you understand how vig works if you're not familiar with real wagering.

I'd say set a deadline for $ to be sent out. Whoever is holding it, I'm assuming its WBH can give a list of those that have joined. After that close it, or it gets too confusing. Keep it simple, so if 10 people join the payout at the end is easy to figure out.

Yeah, once we "buy in" we would need to lock the list down until we got paid out or (more likely) lost our investment. Then we could open it up again.

Let me clarify.

This is not like having an account at Bovada or what have you. That's not the way it operates with a bookie. There is a pay point and it works in both directions. I have requested $500 but he may balk at that, as I think he's more comfortable with $1k. We'll see, awaiting a response.

It works like this - you don't front anything. But when you hit that pay point in the negative, you have to pay up. If you hit the pay point in the positive, he has to pay up. Last day of the week is Sunday night. If you're -501 on Monday AM, you set up a meeting and pay up. +501, you set up a meeting and he pays up. There is no cashing out unless you hit your number.

What my intention is - is to have you guys send me the $50 and I'll hold it in my paypal account until payday. It will still be yours, I'll just hold it in case we wind up over our CTC (cut the check) # so I don't have to wait two weeks to collect from everyone to pay him.

Just to make it "fair" since you guys might not like me holding the $ without actually having to pay him, we can set up some arbitrary check points where you can "opt out" and ask for a proportion of your $ or winnings back and I'll assume your risk.

Make sense?

We can play hockey, too, asshole. We will set up a system (still in the works) where someone nominates a play and if X number of people vote 'yay' on it we play it.

I'm in for the hell of it but I hate betting on hockey. I watch every Wings game but really don't follow the rest of the league that closely. Hockey seems to flukey to bet on. Can we bet on women's hockey ?

Yeah I trust WBH and would be willing to go along with what any of you a-holes think about hockey or soccer or whatever. Although I don't know how you will solve the bickering but maybe that is part of the fun. Maybe put one guy in charge for the week and he can take opinions into account however he sees fit.

I think we stay flexible with it and let the majority decide what we do/don't bet on. I have a feeling it will be pretty tight - at least at the beginning.

You will have total degenerates like me, who bet on the hot dog contest every year, willing to back every bet that anyone proposes, just because - fun, and because I understand the dynamics and that "insight" doesn't particularly matter. There may be a few more in our bunch, who knows.

Girbaud will likely propose that we bet on the Wings when Howard is in net and facing the backup Wild goalie but no one will pay attention because they're not playing the Blackhawks. The Lions will probably also get a lot of play.

This will be fun as shit. I'm gonna be honest, if you care about $50, I would advise you not to play. This will be a total clusterfuck but it's gonna be a blast. We're probably gonna lose our money, but it's well worth the experiment/entertainment value.

ALSO - I want everyone to realize that the site we'll be betting on changes lines on the fly - like any legit site. You can look at VI or USA Today or whatever and it's quite possible that we won't get the same lines. And it's important to note that statistically there are huge differences that lie within a 1/2 or full point. Roughly 20% of all NFL games end up with a 3 point margin. So the difference between grabbing a +3 and a +2.5 is monumental.
