401k YTD Rate of Return
So the end of the year is here. How did you do? I just barely broke 10%. A little behind the S&P 500. I'll take that.
Biggest winner was FBIOX. This Biotech fund has been kicking ass for a few years now. http://quotes.morningstar.com/fund/fbiox/f?t=fbiox
Biggest loser? FHKCX. Everything in China has been a dog this year. http://quotes.morningstar.com/fund/fhkcx/f?t=fhkcx

Mine killed it. Though my legacy 401K is in much more conservative funds but it still grew about 25%.
I think overall I was between 25-30% in pure growth.
Now I just need to wait 20 years so I can start drawing on it. If I could do that right now penalty free I would be tempted to retire at my young age.

Of course it would. Under Obama the Dems 2 main constituencies are doing well. The mega rich and those on welfare/food stamps.

Not to mention the cheap labor (read: illegals) he is allowing to flood the market.
The middle class is just about gone. I'm glad I made it into the upper, rather than slid into the lower.

Indices came in at 29%. My mutual finds were 28%. Still was able to post a loss in my day trade account to keep that 10 year trend strong. Lol

I started out with mine in a retirement fund and it was barely staying even. I said fuck that and changed my elections and it's been doing 10% according to the last statement they sent me.
My IRA is running at about 14%.

Its a 401. I'm not doing anything. I just have it linked to a bank account, along with credit cards and other checking accounts. Something like Mint. Maybe it wasn't 18 months, but definitely lost 10% in a week.Nordic wrote:InTenSity wrote:Just happened to take a look at mine. Everything that was gained in the last 18 months is gone.

Meh, MSU currently has 150K of one of mine. They'll get 50K more. Then the weddings, then I'll die with as much as I came into this world with. So, when you come ot my tailgate, know that what I share with you is really all that I have in my life and I'm happy doing it. Nobody gets out of here alive. Live like you're a puppy and somebody left the gate open.

Problem is, you have no idea when the initial bounce will be. So if you pull out now to wait... and tomorrow they announce a cure/vaccination... by the time you bought back in, the market will have recovered and you would have missed out on the change.
Unless you are retiring within the next 2 years... just don't look.

Trying to time the market is about impossible. Unless a total worldwide economic collapse is happening (hint: this is not one), just leave it alone.

I actually fled it today. I had two rock solid years and happy to sit on the sidelines to see what happens.
Supply chains are being hit, tourism is taking a hit, I've heard from a few local retail shops in our town they are seeing a down turn in business. Right now the number of cases doubles every 6 days. As of now I'm betting the freak out is going to take the market down.
