Minnesota Timberwolves forward Adreian Payne continues to show growth and progress in NBA

EAST LANSING — Adreian Payne is showing the same sort of improvement as an NBA player as he did at Michigan State, slowly and steadily expanding his game and efficiency.

"We know it can take a little time, but he's really making progress,'' Spartans coach Tom Izzo said. "Adreian came back and spent quite a bit of time here after the season, and I think he looks great. His body is getting bigger, and while he still has work to do on his game, he's improving and I think has a chance to be special.''

The 6-foot-10, 245-pound Payne, known for his inordinate athleticism, said that's what he aims to prove this offseason.

"I'm just trying to prove myself to the coaches," Payne told the Minneapolis Star Tribune, "and just dominate.''

Clippers Sign Branden Dawson

The L.A. Clippers announced today the team has signed forward Branden Dawson. The Clippers acquired the rights to the 56th overall pick in the 2015 NBA Draft in a draft night trade with the New Orleans Pelicans.

Dawson, 22, appeared in four of the Clippers games at the recently completed Orlando Summer League and averaged 12.8 points and 10.3 rebounds in 25.5 minutes. Dawson finished second in the league in rebounds per game and recorded a double-double in three of his four appearances.

Couldn't say until terms came out. First year league minimum $525k guaranteed.

As much as Appling gets some crap for not getting to a Final Four (some of it deservedly so since he had some decent seeds to work with when he wasn't injured; some of it not in his final year), I liked seeing how hard he took not making the Final Four.

It meant the passion was there and that drive to prove people wrong very well might have sparked him to work as hard as he has and become an NBA player. Kudos to him.

So glad Appling achieved his dream of playing in the league. Felt so bad for him, watching how he couldn't bounce back from the injury. Was looking to have a beast of a season that year.

Looks like Payne is fitting in well in Minny.

Hope Alan Anderson does well with my Wizards.

Contracts are crazy with the impending jump in the cap thanks to the TV deal.

Report: Ex-Spartan Travis Trice signs with Knicks

Former Michigan State guard Travis Trice has signed a partially guaranteed one-year deal with the New York Knicks, Yahoo.com reported today.
Trice, the 6-0 guard whose clutch play helped carry the Spartans to the Final Four in Indianapolis in April, went undrafted in June after playing for Miami's NBA summer league team in Orlando, Fla.

I've always thought he could do well in the triangle offense as Craig Hodges type PG. Could be a good fit if the Knicks if the triangle is what they run (I didn't see any Knicks games last season).

KG most likely won't play beyond this season. That should open up some minutes, and I'm pretty sure the T Wolves picked up his option year already.

Yea you are right, already picked up his option, I missed that.

I don't always think straight +/- is a great indicator for a basketball game, but Draymond putting up a +41 in 27 minutes to help build a 40 point lead is INSANE. Memphis is a decent team and GS absolutely destroyed them.
Also went for 11 pts, 9 rebounds, 8 assists, and 3 blocks. Easy triple double if they actually had to play him in the 4th quarter.
