Who is the American Sniper a hero to? Rednecks? Others in the military?

The sniper was just doing what his country asked him to do at a time of war. Nothing more, nothing less. Sometimes people in war do heroic things but doing your normal job duty isn't heroic in itself, I think.

Don't get me wrong--I fully respect what tough jobs the people in the military have and appreciate them risking their lives to keep us safe. Its just that not everyone is the military is a hero and I wouldn't use a kill count to define a hero.

He didn't serve in combat. He doesn't have PTSD. He is, however, clearly mentally disturbed and the fact that he's going to be thrown to the wolves with the normal prison population is almost certainly a death sentence and really deals another blow to my faith in humanity.

the word 'hero' gets thrown around too easily. Yeah, the Sniper dude did what he was told to do. Yes, it was wrong as our government is often wrong and very corrupt - so he was just an extension of the corruption.

I'm not impressed by the sheer fact that someone was in the military.. certainly not impressed by someone who is defined by how many people they killed in the name of our corrupt government.

the unfortunate part is that in modern day America, they could put him getting mauled by inmates on Pay Per View and it would probably be a right wing viewing extravaganzaa..
