Don't get me wrong, I love my mom. And I have no problem honoring her. The problem is the pressure of the gift. What do you get someone that has everything?

Our society today is such that no one wants for anything, so trying to find a thoughtful appropriate gift is difficult. Then there is the mom-in-law, step-mom-in-law, wife's grandmother, and stepgrandmother. AHHHHHH!!

So anyway, I think we just dropped over 4 Benji's in flowers. I hate paying that much for something that is wilted and thrown away in 10 days.

End rant.

Take her to lunch or dinner. Spend time with her. I've recently started to by more "experience" gifts than material gifts. A day on a fishing charter, a concert, etc. Not that you have to even buy anything because all that matters is the time spent together.

I hate it too. I get loving our mothers and appreciating them, but Mother's Day just feels so forced. Growing up, it also sucked because my mom would use that as a reason to do all these things we hate doing.

Father's Day is a lot better though. No gifts or anything as my dad just goes off on his own fishing real early in the morning and then plays golf with his friends all afternoon. He couldn't care less about any of that greeting card holiday bullshit.
