There are several Pauls in the U.P. that one I posted is in St Ignace right in front of Castle Rock. There is another in Manistique where Paul is standing tall
I am not sure if there is one in Escanaba

Northern Michigan town's 'ice berging' party tradition heckled after Weather Channel shares video
LELAND, MI - When The Weather Channel featured a video of Leland's popular ice "berging" tradition on its Facebook page this week, a chunk of internet commenters seemed to lose their minds.
If early spring conditions are right near this picturesque Lake Michigan harbor town, locals are known to rustle up some chairs, refreshments - and maybe a couple musical instruments and a dog or two - and float down the river on a thick, specially-cut slab of ice.

Gipp got a memorial park built in his honor. Was less than a half mile from my grandparent's home. Haven't been up there in a long while.LooseGoose wrote:U.P. bucket list: From Big Mac to the Gipper

Coolest (literally) swimming hole in Michigan. Devil's Washtub, couple miles west of downtown Copper Harbor.
My grandfather said he once saw ice still in it in August. Must have been a very calm, cool summer because every time I went there the basin was rockin', similar to this
More extreme conditions near the tub
It is swim-able, if calm enough
Bonus...some nice Keweenaw aerial views
