What a grease fire. University of Illinois interim Chancellor fires the AD without cause so he'll get a $2.5M going away gift.
He was fired after reports of mis-treating football and women's basketball players surfaced. He wasn't found responsible but the interim chancellor said the university athletic department needed a "fresh start"

So the interim chancellor has appointed an interim AD and Bill Cubit is their interim football coach. Who want to take that football coaching job now? Who would want to interview for a head coaching job of any sport for the Illini right now?

Cubit's 63 or 64. They would be better off giving him a 2-3 year extension, find a new university chancellor and then hire a new AD before trying to hire a football coach and staff who has no clue who the new AD or new university chancellor may be.
