Baylor is doomed. First time this year they've faced a team that was above .500 when they played. That's a Swiss cheese defense.

He also sucked as a head coach.
He did ok in his short stint at Central.
26-36 in five years.
Not bad for a directional school.

No but the fight happened in Australia and I'm sure the committee will note that her body clock was off [rimshot]

His first couple of years were a little rough after having to replace LeFevour and the guts of the team that went 12-2 in 2009 and got Butch Jones out of Mt. Pleasant. His last three years he had a winning record, 20-18. Not exactly lights-out, but not exactly the disaster that 26-36 makes it appear either. Jones and Kelly each had one breakout season, aside from that they weren't all that good either.Turtleneck wrote:Heat Miser wrote:

Re: 11/14 Other Games...
PAC 12 is out.
OK State has to win out. If they fall to OU in the Bedlam Game at Stillwater they're out and if ND wins out they probably get in over a one loss Big 12 team. ND and the Big 12 teams will be sitting home watching the ACC, Big Ten and SEC championships.
Iowa still has to play Nebraska. Delaney has to be shitting his pants about the possibility of MSU or umaa keeping unbeaten Ohio State home in 3 weeks.
It's possible (not probable) OSU loses to umaa after beating MSU. umaa beats a one loss Iowa that lost to Nebraska so the Big Ten championship team is two loss umaa. Sooners win out. ND wins out. Clemson wins out. 'Bama or UF's next loss is in Atlanta. We see the Big Ten and the PAC 12 sitting home. My tinfoil hat is telling me Delaney is in a position to move heaven and earth to keep the Buckeyes undefeated.

ND could lose to Stanford.
Don't think the sports vultures at ESPN ever projected 2 consecutive years where the West Coast TV's wouldn't have a dog in the fight. $470M and no PAC 12 and no ND isn't ideal if you are selling eyeballs to advertisers.

Disagree about Jones. He was 27-13 in three years at CMU with a 20-3 conference record. While he was coach, CMU won the MAC twice.
Enos managed to finish at least .500 in each of his final three seasons, but I would argue his teams were only marginally better. He beat some terrible teams to get to a .500 or better record in those years. Between 2012-2014, CMU only beat three teams with winnings records. Exactly half of those 20 wins came against teams that finished with three or fewer wins. Besides all of that, his offense was incredibly boring, he did not seem to have any energy for being such a young coach, and he seemed to have a lot of off the field issues with his teams. I watched his time at CMU very closely because I was excited for his future, but I was left rather disappointed.
You are right that he took over an inopportune time. LeFevour, Antonio Brown, and the rest of a greatly talented team that had spanned multiple years were all on their way out. However, Enos had five years to put something together. In that time, he could never get past strictly mediocre. As GRR said, bolting was the best thing he could have ever done. One of those reasons was because he was stuck in a rut at CMU.

Still laying in bed. As you know, as you get older, sleeping isn't easy. Wife went to the lobby for coffee. I' feel fine.

My point with Jones was that he went 8-5, 8-5 before breaking out.Turtleneck wrote:Floyd Robertson wrote:

Re: 11/14 Other Games...
You said that outside of a single season, neither Jones or Kelly were that good. Jones has two 8 win seasons and a MAC title prior to his 11 win season. Jones was decent.
Enos had five years to be something other than mediocre. Never happened. Enos never finished above 4th in the MAC West.
