I think I agree. Iowa gets Ohio State's old spot at #3 and MSU gets Iowa's #5. Clemson stays 1, Alabama stays 2, and Notre Dame stays 4. (not that I agree with ND and Alabama's rankings but it is what it is)kingstonlake wrote:5th

Playoff fallout from Michigan State's upset
Dinich, for whatever she's worth, says maybe 4.

Committee will screw us in the end if we win out. Will screw just like Delaney's goon did down in Nebraska.

We pass tOSU, OSU south & FL. Our wins keep looking better while the Domer's wins keep looking worse so I think #6 is a lock and #5 in front of ND isn't out of the question.
Clemson - Alabama - Iowa - Oklahoma ahead of us although Oklahoma is debatable too.
So at best #4 - at worst #6.

Re: With all top ten games complete, where will MSU be ranked?
CFP field for sure:
1 loss SEC team (either Bama or Florida). They'll jump Florida up there if they have to.
1 loss BT (MSU/OSU) or undefeated BT (Iowa). Only possible way BT gets screwed is Iowa loses to Nebraska or loses in BT title game to Michigan. IF MSU loses to Penn State and OSU wins out they'll find a spot for the Buckeyes.
Undefeated ACC team (Clemson). If UNC wins it all they won't take them as their schedule is pathetic.
1 loss or undefeated Big 12 team. It's a cluster but somebody has to come out of there in reasonably good shape.
If something wacky happens Notre Dame is waiting to vulture the last spot. Pac-12 is out no matter what and ND is out if they lose to Stanford or even if they win and the field holds to form.

The teams that control own destiny:
#Clemson
#Alabama
#MichiganState
#Iowa (probably)
I have no idea how they'd handle #ND vs #Oklahoma.

The Spartans Shift Up: Updated College Football Playoff Predictions (Week 12)
Michigan State kicked a field goal on the last play of its game on Saturday to topple the undefeated Ohio State Buckeyes — and made the College Football Playoff picture more complicated. You may have some unanswered questions: What does the upset of the Buckeyes mean for the eventual Big Ten champ’s chances? Does it help or hurt Notre Dame’s playoff position? And what about the Big 12? Fear not! FiveThirtyEight’s college football model has some (probabilistic) answers. Here are our updated projections following Saturday’s games (these numbers will change again on Tuesday night after the new committee rankings are released):

But that is not the Buckeyes’ only way to the playoff. Should they win out and be excluded from the Big Ten championship game, they still make the playoff 54 percent of the time. As I explained last week, Ohio State as a one-loss defending national champion presents an impressive résumé for the committee to consider
Please tell me this carries no weight.

It carries no weight. They don't have an impressive resume. They would have a win against Michigan and that's it in that scenario.

Not sure I understand where he comes up with 54%, when the graph says 33%.
Are there ways OSU can still get in? Sure. But, a few things would have to happen. Or more than a few things.
