As long as you understand that I'm a soldier in the war on Christmas and willing to die for my beliefs. Whatever those might be.

How is "Happy Holidays" +8 in the south? How is the south in line with the elitist northeasterners on this?

That surprised me. Maybe a lot of retirees in Florida swung the vote.

1,065 seems like a terrible sample size.

When you include Maryland/DC/NoVA in the South, then you get funny things like this happening.Turtleneck wrote:How is "Happy Holidays" +8 in the south? How is the south in line with the elitist northeasterners on this?

Does it make you miserable when people say Happy Holidays instead of Merry Christmas? If that makes you miserable, the problem might be that you are just generally miserable. Which is understandable because if I was a UM fan I would be miserable, too.

I don't really get it either.
Is it that hard to comprehend that everyone doesn't celebrate Christmas?
Since when is understanding the fact that others may identify with another faith, belief, or religion being "politically correct"?
I just don't get it. But I also don't want to ban Muslims from the US. So maybe I'm just too sane. Or sane enough to realize we are just fucking apes. Some apes are smarter than others. (Obviously)

Re: Mapping the War on Christmas
So funny story about the whole war on Christmas thing. All month I've been correcting people if they say holidays or if they say Christmas, telling them to say the opposite. You may not have realized I was doing that, because everyone just said Christmas all the time. I think I only said "you should be saying Christmas instead of holidays you asshole" twice.
What I'm trying to say is that people like the dude really like to pretend that their side is a minority or that they are persecuted or whatever it is that their going for. They are just irrational.

Re: Mapping the War on Christmas
I like to celebrate Joseph, a man who stuck with his wife when she became pregnant with a child that wasn't his. He had a lot of faith.
I think I'm going to start telling people to have a Jolly Josephmas.

Happy Holidays is not necessarily a politically correct synonym of Christmas, it represents more than just Christmas - it represents all of the year-end/beginning holidays such as Christmas, Hannakah, and New Year's, and whatever else you have during this time of year. Also, I don't necessarily understand why anyone should be offended by "Merry Christmas" when: 1) Christmas is a national holiday and along with Thanksgiving, one of America's favorite holidays; 2) most of the country is Christian, so unless you're wearing a yammika or something else obvious showing that you're not Christian, what do you expect? I'm a registered Independent but vote mostly Democrat and I am sometimes offended by the "war on Christmas"

That post was slightly worse than Terrelle Pryor's research paper. Or slightly better. Not sure.

Re: Mapping the War on Christmas
Statistically 1,065 is actually a fairly strong sample size.
The problem with a lot of surveys is with selection bias. If they did this by phone, they only survive folks with landlines, and depending on timing there could be a lot of bias for older or unemployed people built into the survey.
