I think you are missing the point. Losing by 4 in 1957 or by 3 in 1978 weren't debacles. We competed, but lost hard-fought games. It happens, but we looked like we belonged on the same court. Losing by 20 in 2015 or by 17 in 2009 were debacles.

I'm beginning to think that your fragile psyche is impacted by those games to this day. That is just sad.
