Mr Ilitch really wanted a power hitting outfielder.

Better to pay 28 year old Upton $132.75M over 6 years (Upton will be 29 in August) than signing Cespedes for the similar terms.

Cespedes is 2 years older and wanted at least a 5 year deal. I should say Cespedes is probably 30. The Cuban and some other players from Central America seem to have a helluva time remembering their birth year.

Always liked the Uptons. I like the signing.

With 14-18 hours of practice a day as a child I don't think that would have been an issue dwags.

Being a coach for over 15 years let me just say there are people who can practice their sport 4 hours a day and just not get it.
