Not one thing will be done. I can't wait to see the CEO and president of my company be involved in this. Meanwhile, I'm told to not talk about college sports with co-workers.

Apparently there are no Americans indicted...Fuck were rich. Can even suppress a worldwide conspiracy.

Supposedly the Editor in Chief of Süddeutsche Zeitung responded to the lack of United States individuals in the documents, saying to "Just wait for what is coming next".

Well if our corporate tax rate wasn't so high, people wouldn't have to hide their money.

Well connected. I imagine those individuals (Americans) are being given the opportunity to pay their way out of being listed before anyone on our shores is actually leaked.

Depending on who you ask Mossack is apparently the 3rd or 4th largest firm that is involved in this kind of business in Panama. Just imagine the amount of data we'd be looking at if the other 2 or 3 larger firms had their info leaked.

He'll chuckle, wave a dismissive hand and business will go on in Russia.

Lionel Messi and Jackie Chan are apparently implicated, too. Panama Papers a 2.6 terabyte, 11.5 million document leak...the largest data leak journalists have ever worked with 502811600

I can't imagine everyone used the same law firm so this won't affect everyone doing this.

I'm assuming we'll hear about Clinton and Trump involved (among the other candidates) and I'd only be slightly surprised to hear of Bernie being involved. I'm rooting for everyone being involved in it, though. To me, that'd be hilarious; "How dare you guys hide money in walls to avoid the protection crew finding it when they come through for your yearly extortion!"

Well yeah for Messi, makes the bulk of his money in Spain. Euro tax rates are off the charts.

Hilary already is involved in basically a shell company for personal gain. Called the Clinton Foundation. If an 'R' would use a Foundation like that, the media smearing would be off the hooks.

With Hil? Nothing to see here.

Some of these people could be completely naive of what's going on. A friend of Messi's suggests a tax professional who is billed as getting him "the most for his money", so he ends up using that individual... Messi's happy, the financial advisor is happy... life goes on.

Panama Papers a 2.6 terabyte, 11.5 million document leak...the largest data leak journalists have ever worked with 842597
Iceland’s Prime Minister has announced on live television that he will not be resigning in the wake of last night’s Panama Papers revelations.

In a special interview with Icelandic TV station Stöð 2, Sigmundur Davíð Gunnlaugsson defended the record of his government and said that the people will be able to judge his government at the next general elections.

The PM maintains that there was “nothing new” in the information released yesterday and that he has given a full account and explanation of his and his wife’s business dealings.

He did, however, apologise to the Icelandic people for his “poor” performance in a recent television interview on the subject.

Gunnlaugsson is adamant that the mass demonstration planned for this afternoon in Reykjavik will not change his decision to stay on as Iceland’s PM.

Ah, the ole head in the sand defense.

You are right though--Messi doesnt need to know the details. Just fork over millions to a trusted 'adviser.'

Life goes on, and then you go to court.  Messi goes on trial for a separate tax evasion case this summer.  So much for being happy. He better hope that evidence from the Panama Papers can't be used in the case.

By the way, his teammate, Javier Mascherano pleaded guilty to tax fraud a couple of months ago.  And their other team mate, Neymar, was recently charged with tax evasion, as well.

Ignorance isn't a defense.

Might be the guy who suggested the "tax advisor"... or vice versa.

Spain's highest tax rate is 47%. I can't say I blame them.

If I understand this correctly this is a tax haven dump with info going back to 1977. You'd think something that's been going on that long would be bullet proof. I'd have trusted it.

This is definitely an old school way of laundering so I could imagine something like this could cause people, those who were caught and people who've yet to be caught and don't want to be caught, to shift to using crypto currency. You'll pay a little more but it seems easier to stay anonymous than doing it through banks the old fashioned way.
