Why can't Izzo close the deal on the highest profile recruits?
Seriously.
Jackson
Jabari Parker
Jahlil Okafor
Cliff Alexander
Caleb Swanigan
Tyler Ulis
Is it a money thing? Cuz I'm sure Eli Broad could kick in some extra if needed.
Otherwise he needs to take some lessons from Alec Baldwin.

Maybe this comes down to his recruiting philosophy. Maybe he does not kiss mom and dad's ass enough and spends too much time recruiting the kid. I mean, the kid has to want to come to MSU, but mom and dad need to get some love, too. In a couple of your examples, parents or guardians seemed to really control the process.

Why? I hated my parents at 18. Whatever they told me to do, I did the opposite.Turtleneck wrote:Dr. Strangelove wrote:Seriously.

Fair statement but I was the opposite and would have went for the money

Re: Why can't Izzo close the deal on the highest profile recruits?
Bridges was rated higher than Swanigan and Ulis (Langford is similar to those 2).
Duke, Kansas, Kentucky...
Purdue is the only outlier, and there was a connection there.

Weren't Bridges and Langford McDs?
I agree though we have never won one of these drawn out affairs.
The sample size isn't that big and we don't have inside info of this guy or that guy was paid. But given the success of Izzo it is insane the lack of blue chips lining up to play for him. And it is not because he is some failure to close the deal or whatever.

Disagree. Izzo spends plenty of time with Mom and Dad because Family is the ultimate MSU recruiting pitch.
Izzo spends zero time with middlemen and that may be why he doesn't land the likes of Jackson

And I'm talking 5 star blue blood offer Michigan football fan whacking off to quality. I don't think Dawson qualifies. Roe yes. Davis i think 5 stars on rivals but what were his offers

Dawson, 5 star top 20 in the country, 4th at small forward. Besides, we all know the only reason he went to MSU was because Izzo took pity on Trice.

See pulling, I'm not losing shit. I'm not arguing anything. This is how people need to learn to have a civilized discussion on message boards.
I just wanted to see who and how many true natty level elite blue blood croots we have gotten under izzo. He has got some, but I think he deserved more but that's weird to say without knowing how he croots. But the program speaks for itself - but we are awfully fucking bias amirite?

Izzo won't cheat, thus loses recruits. Everyone knows this, it is a good thing.

Re: Why can't Izzo close the deal on the highest profile recruits?
If you look at the McDs/top recruits vs success of the program it is nuts. We are actually close to #1 in results but not in the top ten of recruiting. We get like one McDs every 3 years. Kentucky, Duke, UNC, Kansas get 3 a year

I'm sorry buddy. I was just teasing you. But most 17 year olds don't just say "f you parents" especially when they have considerable skill for making money very soon and they're trying not to fuck it up.
Also, I love your mom too.
