Saw that blurb earlier today. I would love to hear Antifreeze's take on it.

I think it was a warning to me to stop reading his stuff.

Holiday Light Parade set to light up streets
Holiday Light Parade set to light up streets
MIO — Vehicles will be decorated with lights and other trimmings to celebrate the start of the Christmas season when the Oscoda County Chamber of Commerce puts on its Holiday Light Parade Nov. 26.
Event organizer Tom Galbraith said the event has been happening for about 10 or 12 years. He said the free parade is open to anyone.
“It can be a family, it can be a business,” Galbraith said. “We usually get a lot of churches too, just kind of something to get you in the holiday spirit.”
In the past the parade has featured vehicles decked out in Christmas lights, a giant inflatable Santa and even a live nativity scene. Past parade highlights include the courthouse float, which featured a 10-foot-tall snowman, and the Mio Saloon float.

The building got smaller but I think the overall bar/restaurant area is roughly the same. Though they're focusing on food now not bar which in today's world is probably a smart thing to do.
Nope. The last car I bought was an '82 Corvette. Since then it's been all Suburbans or pick ups.

Agree. O'Briens was the best in the area but they closed and moved to Mackinac City.
Lost Creek is generally solid and actually Garland has made a decent comeback. I hope
they can get the golf and that place rolling again.

If you saddle break an elk you don't need to plow anymore.

OSCODA COUNTY — If you’re looking to see Santa or just need some holiday cheer, Oscoda County is set to have three Christmas events this weekend. Events include Lunch with Santa at the Mio Moose Lodge, Pioneer Christmas at the Steiner Museum and the Fairview Mennonite Church annual Christmas concert.
The Mio Moose Lodge will give kids 10 and younger a chance to meet Santa to get all their gift ideas in. Children who visit Santa will receive a donated toy for boys and girls, a bag of candy and a hot dog. Those interested in attending can visit the Mio Moose Lodge on Saturday Dec. 10 from noon to 2 p.m. The Mio Moose Lodge is located at 1631 Ryno Road in Luzerne.
The Steiner Museum will also be hosting its Pioneer Christmas event on Dec. 10 from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. Santa will be stopping at this event as well to take gift requests. Children will be able to select one toy from under the Christmas tree. In addition, there will be a reading of a Christmas story, cookies, hot chocolate and a chance for kids to make a wooden Christmas ornament to take home. The Steiner Museum is located at 1980 Reber Road in Fairview.
On Saturday at 7 p.m. the Fairview Mennonite Church will be holding its annual Christmas concert, which will feature solo and group renditions of traditional Christmas songs. Event organizer Kevin Salsbury advises interested attendees to get there early to ensure a spot. The Fairview Mennonite Church is located at 1583 N. Abbe Road in Fairview.

MIO, Mi - This Friday, from 1:00 - 1:30 at the Greater Mio Community Center, a local expert in the field of walking will discuss the strategies associated with staying upright for those who will be treading across snow and ice this winter. Gerald Goosenstob, 72, has long considered himself an expert on walking. He'll share his expertise in a panel format prior to giving demonstrations. If citizens need a ride, please call Gerald as he does have a station wagon that can hold 7 people. If you plan on bringing your breathing machine, please let him know when you call so he can make the necessary adjustments to how many people he can transport in the station wagon.

Escaped bull put down by owners
Escaped bull put down by owners
MIO — A bull was put down Dec. 28 after it escaped from a trailer at the FirstMerit Bank parking lot on Morenci Avenue.
According to animal control Officer Andrew Thompson, the bull escaped from a trailer that wasn’t secured well enough at the bank. He said the bull was being transported to Southern Michigan where the owners, who are from the Mio area, intended to sell it to another farm.
This attempt also failed, and the bull made his way across M-33 past Hinchman Acres Resort to the swamp nearby. The owners used cattle dogs and horses in attempts to get the bull back.
“They couldn’t get it corralled and it’s a very large, somewhat aggressive bull,” Grace said.
After these failed attempts, the owners were consulted on what they wanted to do with the escaped bull, Thompson said. The owners made the decision to shoot the animal.

I'd say the fact that the bull no longer has to live in Mio could best be described as a "mercy killing"..

Winter Chill Out to offer family fun Jan. 28
FAIRVIEW — The third annual Winter Chill Out sponsored by Love INC will bring winter fun for the whole family Saturday, Jan. 28.
“We moved it up a month, for one, to see if we could get some cold this time,” Love INC Director Laurie Diller said. “Last time the hockey was canceled because it was too warm.”
The event will start off with a three-on-three hockey tournament at the Boney Park rink at 9 a.m. Interested players should contact Blake Snyder at 989-884-1949 by Jan. 26. The fee to play is $5 per person on each team. For a complete list of rules visit Boney Park Ice Rink’s Facebook page.
“So they are organizing it with teams and there will be food and a trophy of some sort,” Diller said.
All other activities will take place in the multipurpose room at Fairview Area Schools. Starting at 10 a.m. until noon there will be kids games set up where children can play and win small prizes, according to Diller.
“We have a lot of really fun kids games and those are all free,” Diller said. “There will be prizes and lots of fun there.”
Following the kids games there will be a lunch for a donation at noon. While the lunch will be put on by the Fairview Mennonite Church, it will remain at the school. The same tournaments as in years past will be held, like pingpong, euchre and pinochle, Diller said.
“I will check for sure but there will be a two-division pingpong tournament,” she said. “There was last year but we’re starting the novice at noon this year. We ran both novice and pro simultaneously (but) it just took a long time.”

Re: Mio and area Doings
MIO, Mi - As many of you might know, we're well into the New Year. What you might not know is that 2017 is a prime number. Now, for those of you who need a little sharpening up on your mathematical definitions, a prime number is a number that is only divisible by 1 and the number itself. So, to honor the Year of the Prime Number, the Mio Mathematical Enthusiast Society will be offering a workshop this Saturday at the Mio Community Center at 2:00. Basic math, including addition, subtraction and multiplication tables will be the focus. You can register by calling Millie Hornback at the Community Center. If you need a ride, Millie's nephew, Clyde, can pick you up in his 1981 Ford flatbed truck. Please dress warmly, as space in the cab of the truck is limited so you might be exposed to the Oscoda County elements upon transport to the event.
