There are tons of combinations you left off, but I'll go with 12-2.

Lose to Oregon, win rest of regular season (11-1), beat Iowa in the BTCCG (12-1), lose as the #4 seed to FSU/Bama in New Orleans.

I put us at 14-1, because we'll be so good the only proper matchup in the national championship will be our offense against our defense, which we will inevitably lose.

So, technically 15-1, but that wasn't an option.

11-2 with tO$U my biggest concern. I think subUrban has a great big bonar for Dantonio this year.

Where is the Ernie McCracken option? i.e., 0-12.

16-0.

12-0 regular season + B10 championship win + 2 playoff wins for NC + win in impromptu game against Lions put together by Hollis at the last minute and played on the deck of an aircraft carrier.

Another NYE/NYD bowl like the Orange/Fiesta/Cotton/Peach. Rose/Sugar are the playoff bowls, and 2 losses would not give us top 4.

I get what you're saying, but is he going to want the game this November worse than he wanted the one in December with a spot in the NCG on the line?

Post by Macks 18/05/14, 08:35 pm

Hard for me to gauge past the B1GCCG, because we don't really know which teams we have a chance of playing. Hell, even in the CCG.

I think we go 10-2 in the regular season with losses to Oregon and one of OSU/Nebraska/Penn State. I think we can win every game we play. Oregon is going to be a tough one with their speed and misdirection vs. our young LBs. I think that's one we drop since it's on the road.

Whether 7-1 in the conference gets us into the title game is anyone's guess.

I think we'll drop a game in conference, but when I look at the schedule I'm having a real hard time finding it. I guess OSU is the most likely cuz they're OSU. I don't see us losing to Nebraska in E. Lansing this time around. UM? LOL. PSU? We're not losing to a school with a brand new coaching staff. Dantonio will coach circles around Franklin.

Weren't these next 2 or so years supposed to be the years the sanctions REALLY affected PSU according to those who said the sanctions were as bad as the death penalty. I know they've still recruited well, but are they really going to be good this year? I know the game is in Happy Valley and their young QB is promising, but I see them as a middle of the pack B1G team  Question

Since this is hypothetical, and I'm going to try and put down the koolaid, this is what I think.

12-2

L to Oregon
L in BTCG to Wisconsin

W the Bowl Game

Overall a great year with a couple tough losses, but I think we beat both tOSU and UM again which will leave a sweet taste in our mouths.

ESPN breaks down the Top 16 for the 1st playoff. MSU is in there, over the next few days they'll whittle the list.

12-2. We go 11-1 during the season, win the Big Ten championship game, and lose in the college football playoff as the 4-seed.

Edit: Should have read that others had this option as well but I do think this is the likely scenario for us as of now.

Our defense going after the Alabama QB. Would love to get a rematch with them and hopefully compete this time. The program has grown tremendously since the last meeting.
