Awesome news. I love that organization right now. Problem is, they have to get an inside presence. They can't rely on Draymond on the inside all the time. Good for them although I know a lot of people are pissed.

Two questions from someone who doesn't follow the NBA too closely:
A) Why are some people pissed?
2) Is this good or bad for Draymond?

A) Competitive balance.
2) Good for Draymond. Second rim protector for their super small lineups should allow him to play a little more freely on defense and play passing lanes a bit more. Playing with KD should boost Draymond's assist numbers a tiny bit as well. He should increase his shooting percentages a bit too, KD will help their floor spacing (not that it really needed it, but whatever).

Agreed. He's likely to be a vital cog in a potential dynasty.

Thank-you! So, when you say competitive balance, im guessing it's the same way people used to look at the Yankees when Steinbrenner would pay for the league's best talent.
As for the second q, it's good to hear Dursnt is a complement to Day Day. I was concerned he was just going to be another ego wanting his minutes and shots.

Hear me out. Mavs sign Seth Curry, Jason Thompson, & Gerald Green.
Then roll out a lineup of
Curry, Thompson, Green, Barnes, & Bogut.

They're all critiquing the ring chasing. Someone should ask Malone/Stockton if they wish they had tried to win a ring earlier in their careers. Durant has every right to want to play on potentially one of the best teams of all time. IF he stays in OKC and Westbrook leaves, he's screwed.

....only if they couldn't find a suitable replacement. There Team was 4 mins from the finals. So dumb. Nba is by far and away the worst league when you look at competitiveness.
Pistons only hope now is wait for Currys and leBrons retirement. Lame

What does "competitiveness" really mean to you? Is it that you want ultimate parity? I hate ultimate parity. I hate that you really don't know who the hell even has a chance when the nhl playoffs start because it's basically a crapshoot a lot of years. The NBA typically has the cream rise to the top and meet each other at the end. Sure, some of the smaller teams might not really have any hope of winning when the season starts but whatever. Get better. It's not like it's impossible. What about the western conference finals or the NBA finals this year? I'd argue that those were the epitome of competitiveness when compared to other sports. Further, it's not like it's the same teams year in year out for eternity. Where were the Warriors 5 years ago? The Cavs? Where were the lakers at the time? Or the heat? The Celtics? Teams do rise and fall, but it doesn't happen overnight like in other sports. And in a lot of ways that makes it so much better.
The Pistons need only to wait for their young core to mature and grow. They'll be right there. Lebron isn't getting any younger. He has, what? Like 3 years left of being the dominant player in the league before he starts breaking down?

I think it's just mostly guys over 30 like me who remember the golden 80s and early 90s and think that's how things are supposed to be. You get drafted where you get drafted and you should be man enough to win a Championship for that franchise if you're a true badass. A few guys were. But we should probably accept that things aren't like that any longer.

That's fine, but that doesn't make it not competitive. I think he, and plenty of others, use that word interchangeably with parity. So I was assuming that's what he meant. I'm not a huge fan of parity to be honest. I mean, to some extent. But I don't like leagues as much where who wins is ultimately a crapshoot random selection. Baseball is an odd conundrum for me in that sense. Regular season- truly not a crapshoot as the best teams are going to rise to the top after a 162 game season. Who wins in the playoffs? Pretty much random. Probably why I wish they would go back to deemphasizing the playoffs and making division championships and such mean something again. I wasn't a fan of extending the playoffs with wild cards and smaller divisions.

I agree mostly. Every single league other than the NBA awards the team that gets hot. Hell the same could be argued for the NCAAs. I think the NBA (and maybe the CFP) are pretty much the only ones that reward the best team. When I was a huge NFL honk it used to drive me fucking crazy that the Colts and Packers would go 15-1 but the shitty ass 10-6 Steelers would win the Lombardi. Regular season shouldn't be pointless.
My argument is not about competitiveness. It's not about anything, really, because I don't really care. I'm saying that I think people don't like the "pick a team that gives you the best chance to win a ring" thing because they're used to a prior era where it wasn't like that.

Re: Durant to golden state
I'm a bit torn, because I like Durant and don't like LBJ. But....I didn't really have a healthy dislike for LBJ until he pulled the Decision. It was in part because I felt he was taking the easy way out other than trying to earn a ring for his hometown team. But it was more for the sheer lack of common sense and tact he showed during the whole ordeal. It absolutely highlighted how coddled he was and the mentality he grew up with. And even more than that, his actions in coming days and years proved that he....still....didn't....get it. He didn't think he did anything wrong. Didn't understand why people were put off by it. Once a "global icon", always a "global icon".
Durant hasn't really demonstrated those same characteristics to date. We'll see how he handles himself going forward.
There's a part of me still conflicted because that initial, visceral reaction still holds true. Why you jumpin ship to join with others bro? Can't you win one on your own? I think that's what a lot of old school people initially think.
How he handles himself in the coming days and years, though, will probably go a long way towards either making this a commonly accepted practice or people continuing to disapprove of these jumps.

Im excited about it but not because I'm some crazy warriors homer because a guy went to msu but mostly because I want to see how it'll play out. There are only so many shots to take in a game and only so many roles. It's going to be a really really interesting thing to watch play out next season.

Back in the early 70's the Bucks didn't climb the mountain until the Big O was added to Lew Alcindor. Shits been going on in sports since I remember.

As if finding a "suitable replacement" for Westbrook is a relative piece of cake.

But yeah, there aren't enough balls to go around now. It would be funny to see GSW struggle.
