Surprised Ryan Van Dyke isn't on the list.

There are no pictures in your link. If you're going to start a thread about athletic high school boys, please include pictures.

Seems a touch heavy on the 2000's but that's probably a bias that would be built in because of better state wide coverage of players compared to 30 years ago or more.
I played against one player on the list and wish I had the game video to put one "highlight" YouTube.

Is it just me or does MSU have the heaviest destination count out of these 100? I counted about 21-20 vs. Michigan, but there are a few guys who I don't remember and their college wasn't mentioned.
Interestingly, Notre Dame was the 3rd highest, with 5-7 recruits at least.

Yeah, it seems like an odd list. It should either be based on high school performance/achievement, in which RVD should definitely be included and someone like Captain Kirk should not. Or it should be based on achievement after high school, which would preclude people like that doucher who went after Trenton Robinson @ #97.
I also like this part of the write up for C Rog:
"While his NFL career left much to be desired, and his potential may not have been reached in college at Michigan State University..."
Uh, they guy won the award for being the best receiver in college football and established a record for consecutive games with a TD catch. Not sure how he didn't reach his potential in college.

First round pick also. WTF? I mean I was pissed at Rogers for tanking it his last couple of games, especially against PSU, but he was unbelievable in college.
I was fired up to read that, then all of a sudden I pop it open and see the first name and it's like a punch to the stomach. What kind of list will this be you start thinking. Disagree with many, but it's hard to put a list like that together

3. Wheatley
4. Woodley
5. Earl Morrall
6.Van Pelt
7. Rick Leach
8. C. Rogers

Edit.....It looks like they cut and pasted the same write ups and placed the players in a different order.

As a Sag Nasty native. I remember watching Stu S(not going to attempt spelling) and Charles Rodgers play against each other. What a phenomenal HS game. Stu was a HS version of Vick at QB and obviously a shut down safety. Rodgers was like Moss, just run a streak and throw it to his ass... he will make it happen.

Doing well, living in DC. Best player I ever played against. You couldn't stop him.
Mushin Muhammad had to sit out the game when we played Waverly. Think he punched a kid from Sexton the week before.

I realize lists like this one are completely arbitrary, but how does Rob Fredrickson not make this list? Stellar HS career, MSU career, and solid pro career
This list seems very slanted towards the offensive side of the ball

I played with a guy, my junior year, who was on the Freep Dream Team as a running back in '90/'91. His name was Robert Chingman and he was a beast. Never played a down in college as he was slow and not very athletic. I'll be damned if he wasn't a better HS running back than two guys from the same class and conference who went on to play at MSU, Howard Tripplet and Mushin Muhammad. Chingman was very illusive and could run over almost any defender. Heard he killed a guy during a fist fight. Just laid him out and the guy ended up dying.

Glad to hear Randy is doing well. He was always a super smart and good guy.
I've said for years that had he went to MSU Perles would have made him the feature back and he had all-American talent.

Totally agree. Unfortunately, he got list in the shuffle at ND and got into Holtz's doghouse. Was really the first recruitment I truly followed & I was really bummed he spurned the Spartans. Got to know him over the years through mutual friends and he's a great guy.

Size and speed. He reminded me of Eric Dickerson.

The pride of Bay City Handy...Wayne Meylan
Wayne Meylan was born in Bay City, Michigan on March 2, 1946. Before playing American football for the University of Nebraska, he attended Handy High School in Bay City.
Meylan played middle guard on defense for Nebraska three years, and the team had a 25-7 record in that time. He was a consensus All-American in 1966 and 1967. In 1966, he blocked three punts and recovered two for touchdowns. Meylan set Nebraska records for most tackles in a season and most tackles in a career. He played three years in the National Football League 1968-1970, then returned to the university to complete work on his degree.
On June 26, 1987, Wayne Meylan, age 41, was killed when his plane crashed in Ludington, Michigan. The National Transportation Safety Board ruled that the probable cause of the accident was wind shear. Meylan was inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame in 1991.
