We got a big 'un tonight with Stanford heading to Washington. Husky Stadium is going to be rocking. That is one of the stadiums on my bucket list.

Re: The Week 5 General CF thread is RIGHT HERE.
The best thing that happened to Washington football was Sark leaving. I never understood why USC hired him (besides the good ol' boy/ex-OC angle). He was barely .500 at Udub. Peterson will have this team competing year in and year out, especially with USC and UCLA floundering and the Az schools not having a defensive playbook. He's got a young buck QB and an absolute stud RB. They are still a young team, but they could knock off the Pac-12 bully tonight.
All that said I took Stanford and the puntas out of principle. Betting against the home night team in big games goes against my norm, but you gotta knock off a big boy before you lay points.

Long ago and far away Washington was good at football then Don James retired. From '75-'92 he was 153-57, they've struggled ever since.

You mean "good again", right?
Don James had some really good teams and won 4-5 Rose Bowls before he retired in the mid 90s.
Shit, now I see Goose covered that.

Right - every program probably has had some relative success in their day. I was born in 93.

Stanford is getting mauled on the lines. I know some will say so did we against Wisky, but that is not the case. Washington is killing Stanford's OL with 4/5 man rushes. Wisky got to TOC with 6/7 man rushes (*edit) and we brought more than 5 maybe once. Boys, we got our coached last week with the D pressures (both ways) and our QB played like ass.

Chris Peterson is in his element. He's in his early 50's and if he can get his teams to play solid football he can stay there until he retires.

So convenient that Beagle is out for the u of m game (and beyond).
I fell asleep when is was just 13-0. Shocked that and Stanford never figure anything out but that Washington DL is for real.

Yesh, not surprised Washington won, but the way the dominated Stanford's OL was quite shocking. They also have a QB problem...sound familiar?

They're 5-0 and the Big 12's only hope at the playoffs. No way they're getting in.

Better than the dreaded vote of confidence. Probably.

I grabbed Texas AD Mike Perrin and asked about Charlie Strong's future. He told me "We need to evaluate what happened here."
