Given the holiday and what it stands for today...
Is this in poor taste or is this badass? (shirt I am wearing today)
I thought it was more apropos than my "Worlds Drunkest Dad" shirt, although, technically, both of them are going to be pretty accurate at some point today.

One of those shirts I like, but probably wouldn't wear myself. I like getting chuckles out of shirts like that. I don't have a problem with it, but I'm not a veteran so I don't know how they feel about that stuff.

What was the name of that college player who turned down an nfl career to go fight in the war that you called a dumb ass. The dweebs went nuts on tcock after that. The dude ended getting killed by friendly fire.

Lotta respect being shown in this post.
And the name you're searching for is Pat Tillman.

I know. I just was waxing nostalgia. I remember the outrage it drew. You were banned I think because of that thread. Pretty much the boners overreacted to your opinion and Trevor succumb to it.

I would love for Ty to recap his logic behind that one. There was actually some decent discussion around it, and his opinion wasn't without merit. A few of us took the discussion to email. I vehemently disagreed, but opinions are like assholes.....

I vaguely remember this and remember strongly disagreeing with him too.

FWIW, I don't remember being banned. Maybe I got like a 24 hour time out or something, but I don't recall getting booted for any extended period of time.
The best part about it was receiving all kinds of death threats and DSF promises if I had balls enough to show my face at the spring game that year. I showed. People shook my hand. Nobody kicked my ass or killed me.
One of the Darby brothers did come to a screeching halt in the middle of the road where we were tailgating to roll down his window and yell "Hey Ty!!! DUMBASS!!!!!!!" and take off. lol
I honestly can't remember what my official stance was on the issue because I was pretty pro-kill-brown-people at that time. I do remember thinking I wouldn't have made the same choice that Tillman made, but I don't believe that I really believed him to be "a dumbass" for doing what he did.
At any rate, 'Merica. **** yeah! RIP Pat Tillman.
EDIT: My memory sucks pretty bad, but I kinda DO remember TBARNE shooting me a PM saying that he had to give me a TO for a bit or else all hell would continue to break loose. Whatever..... FWIW, I like Trevor. He is a good egg.

Also, I'm a little pissed off at you dickheads for not answering the original question. DWAGS was the only one to even comment on it remotely...

I'm a vet and I'm not offended by it. I also wouldn't wear it. It did make me chuckle a little though.

Ok, Ty sucks, so let me try to rekindle the discussion.
It was basically you and zippy saying that guy decided to go all GI Joe because of a National tragedy, despite having a young wife and kid and home, and that was a dumb ass decision. He should stay home and take care of his family.

I wouldn't wear the Back to Back WWII shirts. The US has been getting clowned ever since then. We've spent trillions and accomplished nothing.
Talking about WW1 and WWII is something a UM fan would do. "Hey, remember that stuff that happened before grandpa was born? Derp derp derp...".

Re: Given the holiday and what it stands for today...
2 million Germans, 1.5 Million Austrians, 1.4 million French, and 2.3 million Russians died in WW1.
About a hundred thousand Americans died. It's a lot, but the U.S. barely even fought in that war, when looking at it as a whole.
And truthfully, although half a million Americans died in WW2, it was not close to the casualties that the Chinese, the Germans, the Japanese and the Soviets carried.
All in all, though American military might was a huge factor in WW2, it was negligible in WW1, and in neither war was the U.S. the clear "winner".
I love America, but the illusion that we "won" either of the world wars needs to stop. The only real wars that we ever won were the revolutionary war (with a lot of indirect and direct help from France) and the Civil War (because we were both sides).
Finally, think about this: A full 14% of the Soviet population died in WW2. That would be the same as if 43,960,000 Americans died today.
War sucks. I am a vet (if that matters). These are the things I was thinking about on memorial day.
