Kirk Gibson elected to College Football Hall of Fame

Former Michigan State wide receiver Kirk Gibson has been elected to the College Football Hall of Fame.

The hall announced its 2017 class this morning.

Gibson, who went on to a distinguished baseball career, now is a television analyst for the Detroit Tigers.

Bad ass. I didn't even know he was in the running.

I think that's awesome.. he's a fine young man and I hope he gets everything he deserves in life.

It seems that former athletes that go into broadcasting are more likely to achieve some award status later down the road. NOT saying Gibby does not deserve the kudos but I am saying that being associated professionally with the media types that vote for such things puts the odds more in your favor.

Gotta wonder how good a pro wide out he would have been. Early in his Tiger career I thought he picked the wrong sport but it worked out great.

He would have terrorized, pinished and bullied DBs for 5-7 years before blowing an ACL. Financially he made the right move.

Kirk Gibson elected to College Football Hall of Fame

Gibson’s football No. 23 will be added to the “Ring of Fame” at Spartan Stadium this fall, the ninth to be honored. He is one of five Spartans to have a retired number in baseball (No. 30), though his son Cam, who is now a Tigers farmhand, wore it from 2013-15.

Pretty sure he wasn't a 5 star recruit or whatever the high school all stars were called back in the day.
