An acquaintance has been the drummer for Megadeth, Suicidal Tendencies, Alice Cooper, and others.
He said lead guitars are not off the shelf. Other than the name and shape the are like clubs in the bag at a PGA tournament.

If you are a guitar god you just have a groupie do it. Also, fapping is good exercise for building up a good vibrato. Next question.

So do the guitar gods enjoy it when you jack them off?

What is more fun to smash on stage: an acoustic or electric guitar?
Do you miss keytars and who was your favorite keytarist?

Good ones. I've seen someone smash a hollow body guitar on stage, the sound was magnificent. I'd say hollow body is the best.
Keytar player I forget his name but it was that one dude in the 80's wearing a Miami Vice suit and he looked high on cocaine.

Doesn't that describe most people in the 80s?

GRR, very true, but this also extends to wannabes like me. I've modded 2 of my guitars and my main amp, as well.
Edited to add: Yes, pros get their custom guitars straight from the factory...and their techs tweak to liking.

Jimmy Page has said he can make just about any guitar sound good. Jack White has recorded and performed with a plastic guitar. I have an LP Standard and an American Strat but still play & sound like shit compared to those two. Most people can't tell the difference in sound between a Gibson & an Epiphone or a Mexican v an American Strat in a blind test.

I had a gold top Epiphone Les Paul with P90s that I bought at Elderly that sounded amazing. I 'upgraded' to a real Gibson Les Paul and sold the Epiphone to help fund the purchase. Truth be told I think that gold top sounded better. Probably was the P90s.

The true source of one's own tone is from their fingers and the nuances in the way they play the guitar. More so than the equipment they use.

I have an Epi Les Paul and a Gibson Les Paul. The Epi is definitely a better value, considering its a fraction the cost of the Gibson. I've installed aftermarket pickups in both and never compared the sound of each with the stock PAF pickups.

Does the Epi sound close to the Gibson? I kind of wish I had both so I could compare the two.
I have a Mexican made Fender Telecaster that I think is the best tele I've ever played. Stays in tune, amazing fret board and sounds great. Best clean sound guitar I have.

Just watched one, I would vote the Gibson sounded better and I think the P90s were what made that Epi I had possibly sound better than my Gibson.

I have active EMG pickups in the Gibson and passive Semour Duncan in the Epi. The pickups themselves are too different to give a fair comparison.
I bought the Epi 2nd, but I still like it as much as the Gibson. Either way, my Jackson with a compound radius fretboard and 25.5" scale plays better to me than either.
