Betsy Devos doesn't know the difference between proficiency and growth in students.

For people not in the field, that's like a football coach not knowing the difference between offense and defense.

of all of the sexual predator's cabinet nominees, she is quite likely the least competent - and that's saying a lot.

Clearly, she bought her way into a position of influence. So much for draining the swamp - doubtful that the deplorables will care, though - if they even are able to comprehend the conflict of interest.

She's also on record as saying she thinks it should be up to states to enforce FEDERAL laws if they feel like it in regards to protecting children with disabilities in school. It's amazing she actually said that. It also shows you why "blind draws" to get into her charter schools never seem to blindly draw a special needs student even though she's making a huge profit off of public money. Yet when high stakes testing scores are added up, she demands the special needs kids scores be added too so they can be compared to her charters.

yeah - clearly she has no idea how a) education works and how b) it's not a business. You can't simply throw out the bad apples because they might ruin the pie and, subsequently, the business. And providing equality isn't the same thing as equity.

but.. what do you expect from someone who wants guns in schools just in case a grizzly bear decides to walk down the hallway.

Somebody says to her by the fire place "wow a school 100 miles from here had a grisly bear in the playground." She then turns to her gun nut friends and says "all those kids should buy and carry with them, just in case".

yeah - if it didn't impact real life and real people, it would almost be entertaining.

I mean, yeah - I can get a kick out of the sexual predator paying prostitutes to watch them urinate, etc - but some of this is real world issues that impact families who, unfortunately, can't afford lobbyists... much less live in gated communities to insulate themselves from those of us who attach ourselves to and believe in public education.

of course she'll be confirmed.. the GOP doesn't have a problem with ethics - in fact, they actually reward the lack of them (see: admitted sexual predator).

and, as we know, they don't value education - the more ignorant they can keep the populace, the more they can perpetrate their twisted agenda upon the populace.

Betsy DeVos doesn't know the first thing about what's wrong with our schools. She's an arrogant elitist and religious zealot.

With that said, Obama's Education Secretary Arne Duncan was absolutely awful as well.
