Why is it Izzo can get bounced from the Tourny and still recruit at a high level, but MD has one bad season, and recruiting goes into the toilet?

Izzo and his staff can have a bad tournament and mediocre year and still thrill the 4 and 5 star players, but MD, after all of his success has one bad year and he can't close on most if not all of his plan A, B, C and finally D kids? Just seems really fucking unreal that he is back to finding the low star talent and winning (maybe) with them to prove to the higher rated players his program is not going into the shitter.

Izzo would probably put together a top ten football class if given the chance...

By toilet do you mean the same level it's pretty much always been resulting in multiple B1G titles, new year's six victories, and an appearance in the CFP?

In a relative sense, Izzo's recruiting isn't all that great either.

His best class ever was still ranked behind Duke. In basketball you only need a few players so you dont have to fight geographical or institutional disadvantages as much

I know your trolling, but 70% of the class was committed before 3-9.

This would sound a little better if it was phrased like this.

Izzo isn't recruiting all that great either. His best class ever was still only ranked in the 20's.

You aren't going to get a lot of people saying that Izzo isn't recruiting well when he landed a top 5 class.

Yeah ok but I was thinking more over the last 20 years. I can't recall the stats without researching it but I think his average class is about 20th ranked. And Getting bounced in the first round after an otherwise great season is hardly comparable to going 3-9. I look more to the early 2000s as comparable as Izzo was coming off three straight final fours and a national title and proceeded to go on a long drought of McDs.
So maybe it would take another 10 years of Izzo like performance by Dantonio for MSU football to get top 20 classes. But really I have always thought Izzo should be top 5 recruiter given his success and lack of inherent disadvantages I mentioned for football. That could speak to the disadvantage of not cheating but I digress

BTW, 247 current composite ranking for MSU's 2017 hoop class is 38th.

Results in actual college games have nothing to do with recruiting.

Izzo has been kicking ass a lot longer than dantonio has. And all it takes are a 2-3 studs. Football completely different. This isn't obvious ?

I don't understand how people look at STARS and rank a class. I'd rather see the on-field results.
