tOfficial NBA Finals Thread
All the people picking the Spurs makes me want to pick the Heat, but I will say Spurs in seven. I like the Spurs ability to play D and rebound. They have to take advantage of their big frontcourt advantage. Plus I don't like the Heat. Hopefully Parker can stay healthy.

Bump.
Does Bill Simmons look orange or is it just me? I think he has been hanging out with Brock Huard.

Pretty sure after tonight people will wonder if the heat can even beat the spurs. I think game one is a 15+ win for San Antonio.

I think the Heat win. Whole series depends on how well SA shoots the 3 though.

Heat playing pretty good and still down, not a good look for them. Spurs seem to have more room for error this season.
In general though, when the teams are pretty close I go with the team with the best player.

Arena air conditioning is "malfunctioning." It wouldn't have anything to do with the Spurs having the deeper bench.

Absolutely. I know the AC isn't working (since they won't stop talking about it) but I didn't need that shot to hammer it home.

Wasn't it in San Antonio where the road team found a snake in the lockerroom too?
I'm about to call shenanigans on the Spurs arena staff.

AC thing working for 'em.
I've probably been dragged off the field cramping about a few dozen times, fucking sucks. Just when you feel OK you go back in, make one hard move and that shit locks right back in.

Oh and I can't wait for the little bitch to blame the loss on no air conditioning. I'm sure LeBron will do the same thing. D-Wade for sure.

Re: tOfficial NBA Finals Thread
The Celtics used to play "the air conditioning is broke" card too.
1984 Finals
In Game 5, the Celtics took a 3-2 series lead with a 121-103 victory, as Larry Bird scored 34 points. The game was known as the "Heat Game", as it was played under 97 °F (36 °C) heat, and without any air conditioning, at Boston Garden. The Celtics did not warm up with their sweat pants on because of extreme heat, and an oxygen tank was provided to give air to an aging Kareem Abdul-Jabbar. It was also the last time that a team with home court advantage in the NBA finals played Game 5 on its own floor until 2014. The next year, the NBA Finals switched to the 2-3-2 format with Game 5 going to the team without home-court advantage, which continued through 2013.

90% of Heat fans are people who never loved/heard of the team until 2006. You're just a basketball expert, huh? And you're a total Heat bandwagoner, loving LeBitch.

You root for a team and coach that completely melt down when a player goes down. That was a JLS level 4th quarter meltdown.

You're right.....
"The Garden had no air conditioning, resulting in fog forming over the ice during some Bruins' playoff games. During Game 5 of the 1984 NBA Finals, the 97ºF (36ºC) heat in the facility was so intense that oxygen tanks were provided to exhausted players."

If you have a history of cramps how are you not taking extreme measures before a huge game. Lebron is such a pussy. Seriously drink water 2 constantly starting 3 days before. Cramps is a sorry excuse at the professional level.

They did so without AC.
"The old Garden, built in 1928, is a grimy structure without air-conditioning or escalators. Mr. Auerbach joked about it today. "I've been here since 1950 and we always had a competitive edge," he said. "Lousy dressing rooms, the heat off in winter, too hot in June, all the dead spots on the floor. Now all our advantages are going to be gone, so I have mixed emotions about this."

Bosh has been money up until the Finals. He disappeared last season in the Finals.
I don't think the Heat have as much room for error this season compared to last. The Spurs look like they're on a goddamned mission.

Re: tOfficial NBA Finals Thread
When I see people call someone a pussy for getting a cramp or saying guys should suck it up it makes me think that a lot of people have no idea what it means to have a severe muscle cramp during a game. It's not something that you can play through.
Guess I'm more sympathetic because I have a real bad history of cramping during games, no matter how much I hyrdate, how many bananas I eat, how many multis I take. I've played through sprains, broken bones, muscle tears and even one game that I don't remember with a concussion. Never been able to play through a leg cramp.
Bosh & Wade need to play like they're fucking All-Stars though.

Most every radio station this morning was blaming the Spurs for lack of AC last night. It is what it is, why wouldn't the Spurs give themselves as much of an advantage as possible?Death Roe wrote:Oh and I can't wait for the little bitch to blame the loss on no air conditioning. I expect game 2 to be closer and more of a toss up. The Heat don't seem to play quality opponents well in game 1. They make adjustments and play better in game 2.

I'm also not expecting 20+ TOs from the Spurs in Game 2. SA has some work to do as well. However, I agree on toss up. Especially since I expect SA's FG% to drop.
