Wow, that got ugly quick. 3 triples in a blink and a 21 point lead.
Not to hate on the Bron Bron but how the f uck do they go 18 minutes of play, after 29 in the 1st quarter, and hang 13 points in that time.
Can you imagine the stars of old allowing their team to flounder like that in an elimination game?

Lebron needs to take over and he's pulling a Chris webber disappearing act.

That was one of the worst NBA finals of all-time. The Heat didn't even belong on the same floor. Half the teams in the West would've put up a better fight.

The Heat are terrible. They have no depth, no PG worth a damn, and they can't play D. Signing Carmelo fixes none of that.

Spoelstra is a terrible coach. They got by on elite talent for so long but now they're in a position where they have to play within the team concept, and they are out of their element against a team like SA. The lack of ball movement compared to SA was very stark.

They really have to get rid of wade and bosh. Draft your sg for the future, sign a guy like bogut and then go Out and grab Mello. Even then, you still don't win shit with that lineup

Should be a very interesting off-season.
If LeBron wants to "catch" MJ, he needs more rings. Not sure he can do it with that cast in Miami. Can Riley remake the heat? or does LBJ have to go somewhere else to get more rings.

No, the entire key to the Heat being the best is Wade being unstoppable as the second option. A #1 talent who teams are forced to guard with a mismatch, which opens the court for everyone. Only Wade is clearly done. Which sinks the Heat's entire boat, as they built the team around that concept.

He's not a winner in the traditional sense. Doesn't conduct himself like one and the results show otherwise. He can come back all he wants, he has to prove at some point that he can win all on his own

Being that the 8 seed in the West took the Spurs to 7 games, I think you could argue EVERY team in the West could have put up a better fightJEK wrote:That was one of the worst NBA finals of all-time. You have to be able to play defense to win a championship in the NBA. It's not just about offense when you get the to the NBA finals. I completely agree with you, but I think you discount how bad Wade and most of the Miami team was on defense. They were totally ineffective at both ends of the court. The Heat shot close to or above their season average in three of 5 games, but they could not stop SA. SA shot 59% in Game 1, 59% in Game 3, and 57% in Game 4. For the kind of defense we expect from any championship caliber basketball team, that is like an open shoot.

Yeah, but your prediction was awful (and based on the flawed premise that SA would not continue to shoot well going forward).

I think the Spurs just wore out Miami. By the third quarter, Miami was giving up the shot at the top of the key. The Spurs were wide open and hitting them.
Here's a question, the rest of the league saw the Spurs style of play. Do you think we will see more passing next year? I don't think we will.

And the fact Spoelstra can't make adjustments based on that proves my point. San Antonio is nothing but a bunch of aging veterans and no name role players, but they know how to play team ball.

The Spurs didn't just start playing this way. They have hung five banners playing this way and the rest of the league is still the rest of the league and won't change a thing. The first team that does will start hanging banners as well.

Since the Bull dynasty ended there have been a handful of teams from the East that had no chance to win in the Finals. 2 Nets teams, Lebron's Cavs, Iverson's Sixers. Those series were over before they even started.
The Finals have now gone to a 7th game only 3 times in the last 20 years/

Will be interesting to see what happens in the off season. Mostly with D-Wade. They can't put together a championship caliber team while still paying him like he's an elite player. That team has some serious holes. Everyone thinks this Spurs team was old but Miami's roster is actually older, 2nd oldest in the league actually. Rashard Lewis's corpse was out there getting significant minutes this playoffs.
