I am trying to get work done. Now totally distracted.

When I visited Point du Hoc a few years back, there was a group of German soldiers in full uniform. They were walking through the ruins touring the old bunkers and gun positions. Seemed strange at first blush but it's a big part of their history as well.

They pretend to pay tribute while controlling disappointment over losing.

Walk around wearing their "Back-to-Back World War Finalists" t shirts?

The vast majority of people in Germany hated Hitler by 1944 and blame him and the Nazi Party- not the invading US Military. The average German was eager to see US or other Western Allie troops to surrender to. They knew the Russians were animals that were given encouragement to rape and pillage. They were proven to be correct.
