Theoretical golf scramble question
Forget the logic of why would you play a 2 or 3 man scramble for a minute.
Let's say you have a bunch of teams playing a 3 man scramble and 1 or 2 teams playing a 2 man scramble. What are the rules for the 2 man teams?

Best ball like anyone else? Whether you have 1 or 10 man team?

2man teams get an extra shot from each location. I'm making that up, though.

I'd just have a bunch of three man teams with a couple of 4 man teams, ensuring that the four man teams included one of the worst players each so there isn't really an advantage or disadvantage to anyone.

Re: Theoretical golf scramble question
Fuck, I hate that, especially when they give the light team one extra shot. That's not quite right because some guy takes the exact same shot from the exact same place immediately after he's taken one. Too much of an advantage. I might give them a mulligan off the tee three times. Once every six holes and you have to use it within six holes, you don't carry over.
Those are Dwags rules. Ive played where the team that's light gets an extra shot per hole including putting, which I've thought was complete bullshit, but scrambles I play in are usually charity stuff so who's going to bitch.

Yeah I'm not asking you guys to make up the most equitable rules. What would the expected/assumed rules be? Do y'all play in scrambles ever/often?
Pretend it's a 3 man team in a field of 4 man teams for simplicity's sake.

Scrambles I play in typically have a minimum beer consumption requirement; 2*3 man team would have to drink the team allotment.
When is the scramble - maybe I can fill in (or Bobby SackofTomatoes)

I would tell the short handed teams to sack up and deal with it.

Local course did an "open to anyone" scramble on Thursday night and Sunday morning for years. The rule for an odd team was exactly as speculated - the 2 man or 3 man team got an extra shot. The only qualifier being that it had to be rotated among the team. The best player couldn't take all the extras.

Huge advantage to the short team. Huge. Fuck that. If I can immediately play a shot I just had a stinker from, it's way easier. Including puts? Fuck that. I'd love to be on the short team.

Re: Theoretical golf scramble question
Not the question Wags.
Every scramble I've ever played in, charity, outing, whatever that has been the rule for the short teams. Yes you have to rotate it but those are the rules. I just wanted to check my sanity.
To your point, though, do you not think it's a huge disadvantage for the team with 2 (or 3) to only get 2 (or 3) shots compared to the teams that have the full allotment of players?

I hate bowling. Instead of golf, why don't people play basketball?

Yes I do. But to give them the extra shot on every lie completely flips that around from being a disadvantage to becoming a huge advantage.
