I guess I don't understand all the vitriol towards Avila. If teams are asking you to eat 30 million of the contract, why not just keep him for another year and sell him as a rental next year. You can't just dump him for nothing. This rebuild is going to take longer than a year and waiting a year to deal him isn't gonna make that much difference. He's more tradable next year with that contact. Idiots like Valenti are just talking out of their asses.

Have to wait and see the whole package. And this may be misplaced but I'll trust Avila, an actual MLB GM over the magazine guys.

Avila has not impressed me with his pitching eye but he does seem to have a better track record with hitters.

Candelario, 23, made his debut last summer, filling in for a then-injured Chris Coghlan.

After tearing it up in Triple-A Iowa over the first month of the current season, Candelario received his first promotion of the year back up to the Cubs. He played in 11 games, and while he didn’t necessarily make waves, he did hit the first home run of his career. With Kris Bryant at the hot corner everyday, it would appear Candelario is roadblocked for the time being. The 23-year-old infielder became the top prospect in the Cubs organization once Chicago dealt star slugger Eloy Jimenez across town to the White Sox.

Mine as well. But when I paste it, it comes back up as "look at this tweet" by so and so with a link to their Twitter feed.
