The most sacred laws in the U.S. were all passed by the left.
All the most beloved things to Americans are products of the left. This is indisputable. Soon universal healthcare will join this list.
Civil Rights,
Social Security
The 40 hour work week
Medicare
Clean Air Act
Clean Water Act - (Nixon vetoed -- was overridden lol)
Women's suffrage
Abolition of slavery (Lincoln was left... sorry people who constantly point out that he was a Republican).
fucking conservatives get dragged into what's best for them by the rest of us in fits and starts, but all the best movement in the history of the US has been by the left.

It’s sad that we still don’t have universal healthcare. But it will happen.

Have to say you are using a definition of "the left" than many people would disagree with regard to the abolition of Slavery and the Civil Rights Acts.
This is probably because up until the Civil Rights Acts the Republicans were socially liberal, or even radically so, while being economically supportive of Spenser, and the Democratics were socially conservative, while being economically supportive of Keynes, at least after the Great Depression.
After the Civil Rights Acts of course the Republicans swung hard right socially, with Nixon & then Reagan while the Democratics moved to the left on these issues. This caused the Republicans to become conservative on most issues and the Democratics to become more liberal on social issues,

Wasn't really my point, more of an aside.
