This thread got me thinking about how many venues just in Michigan that I've been at for a concert?
McMorran Auditorium - Port Huron
Davison Speedway - Davison
Pine Knob - Clarkston
Meadow Brook - Rochester
Royal Oak Music Theater
Pontiac Silverdome
Strand Theater - Pontiac
Harpos - Detroit
I-Rock - Detroit
Cobo Arena - Detroit
Joe Louis Arena - Detroit
Olympia Stadium - Detroit
Fox Theater - Detroit
State Theater - Detroit
Majestic Theater - Detroit
St Andrews - Detroit
Masonic Temple - Detroit
MSU Auditorium
Jenison Fieldhouse
Lansing Civic Center
Wings Stadium Kalamazoo
Flint IMA
"Old" IMA downtown Flint
Capital Theater - Flint
Saginaw Civic Center
Heritage theater - Saginaw
Leelanau Sands Casino
Castle Rock
The Palace - Auburn Hills
Engels Stadium - Bay City
I could probably add a dozen more bars that have had "known" bands in for a show.
Notable Misses:
Ford Field
Comerica Park
Tiger Stadium
Freedom Hill
Spartan Stadium
Breslin Center
Crisler Arena - Ann Arbor
Van Andel Arena - Grand Rapids
State Theater - Kalamazoo
Hill Auditorium - Ann Arbor
Soaring Eagle - Mt Pleasant
How about Val Du Lakes? It was right near Silver Lake Sand Dunes. I remember Guns N Roses coming there in about 1987 was about the biggest thing to ever happen around there.
But I didnt go because it wasnt my scene. I did see James Taylor there which I am less proud to admit now

Nope, in fact that one I've never heard of.
I know there was a hockey arena in TC that used to host a lot of shows and never made it there either.
And in response to Bob.....I have to kinda say this softly....I was never a big Springsteen fan...never saw him live.

That would have been a great show for people who have trouble sleeping.

Other than generally liking rock and metal I have/had certain bands I would see repeatedly. I saw Dio probably 6-8 times including with Sabbath. Ian Hunter at least a dozen shows. Seger, Nugent, REO, Heart, Cheap Trick all probably in the 5-10 show range though never REO after they dumped Gary. UFO/Schenker at least a dozen times, probably more. The Stones 5 times but never after the Steel Wheels tour.
And as I said earlier in this thread a bunch of Blue Oyster Cult shows because I had a friend that insisted on going to any show of theirs with 5 hours of Michigan.

probably blasphemy in some circles but I actually prefer Dio-era Sabbath vs. Ozzy-era Sabbath - my wife got me a somewhat rare copy of Live Evil on vinyl - had to be shipped from Europe, as I recall - love that record.LooseGoose wrote:Robert J Sakimano wrote: it's cool - I ain't a fan of jesus.. but we all have our things.

other than Bruce (who I've probably seen 13-15 times), I haven't seen a ton of the bigger bands multiple times.. other smaller bands (Drive By Truckers, The Hold Steady, The Gaslight Anthem, Lucero, etc) I've probably seen between 5-8 times each in some larger clubs/small venues.

Are you familiar with Ian Hunter? I see him as one that we could intersect on. Started out big but hasn't really toured arenas since 1980 with Mick Ronson. Since then it's been mostly bars and small theaters. He's been able to chart his own path because of royalties off others doing his songs.
Some old Ian from when Mick Ronson was still with us.....

Only familiar with Ian Hunter by name. Pretty sure I've heard Eddie Trunk (or Jim and Don) talk about him on That Metal Show.
I'll check him out.
Also, saw John 5 at The Token Lounge - talked with him for awhile before the show. Really cool guy, totally normal.

I've seen him on That Metal Show and he seems pretty nice. Grew up in your favorite drinking town - Grosse Pointe.

If nothing else was on, I'd watch reruns of Castle. Nathan Fillion is funny and Stana Katic is foxy.
