They have a good view but you’re gonna be pretty high up there. I mean, it’s about as high as it gets. But you’re effectively looking straight down at the court. So I don’t think this answer helps very much but I havent been up there before so I don’t want to say “yeah it’ll be a great view” then get yelled at if I’m wrong.

I'm sure I have less time to dedicate to the cause than you do but my biggest hangup is this - what is the end goal here? Do you realistically see a path with this roster, despite the hot start, to compete for a championship?

I mean what's the point? Why and how could I ever possibly get interested or excited about this team?

Drummond is a slug. He's not Detroit. He's like Oregon or some shit.

Reggies was fun when he was right, but it seems he's not really a team player and likes to take shots and blame it on Stan Van Jeremy.

Tobias is skilled, but seems also like an offensive black hole.

Avery Bradley is Detroit. He's a guy we can rally around. But he's new and all and he's out after one year, right?

First of all, I agree - you do not get it.

You could make this same argument about a "path to the championship" with every single team outside of the Warriors and maybe the Cavs right now. Every single one. Since when did sports become either you're in the championship or who cares? Why the fuck do you follow MSU football? or MSU basketball? The Pistons won a NBA ship more recently than both. The tigers? You betcha! Sounds like a waste of time to me.

The Pistons are the only pro team I really care about, wbh. I don't know why, probably because I grew up watching the goin to work crew. I ain't in the business of trying to convince you to care - but you are showing your ignorance with your breakdown of the roster.

Drummond is 24. He is playing much much better than last year. Again, he is 24. He doesn't have to be some offensive guru - he has to play within himself and he is the best rebounder in the league. The best rebounder in the league isn't Detroit? Interesting theory.

Reggie has been hurt. He's finally healthy, and back to the form when the Pistons got swept by Kyrie, LBJ, and Kevin Love. Averaging 16 pts, 6 assists. If you've watched any of the games this year, they are moving the ball again.

Tobias a black hole? I will not waste much time on that comment. Do black holes shoot 50 from the field and 40 from 3? This is coming off a pretty bad west coast trip from him as well. He is 25 years old.

Avery Bradley is exactly what this team needed. You got something right. If the Stones have a solid season, we have bird rights and can pay him more than anyone else. Who fucking knows? We are 7 games into the season.

Stanley Johnson is a wildcard at this point. Playing a lot better recently. Ish Smith and Tolliver are some of the most likable, underrated dudes in the league.

They aren't the Cavs or Warriors, but who is? It's still a relatively young core with a high ceiling. After not doing ANYTHING since 09, you don't get why fans aren't feeling better? The East is weak as fuck right now, it's not really that crazy to imagine them getting a top 4 seed. Are they beating the Cavs with Lebron, probably not. Is MSU football beating Alabama? MSU taking down Duke, UNC, Kentucky consistently?

OTPT you are flying off the handle a little bit. It's not about winning a championship this year or next it's about having the possibility to win something - a division, a conference, a title, with some of the pieces you have in place. A future path to a championship or to something greater than a ceiling of the 4 seed in the East. I do not believe this core has that and they do not play with any kind of traits that make them exciting or fun to watch, or with that trademark Piston toughness (with the exception of Bradley) that made us all get on board with Corliss Williamson, Stack, Ben Wallace and co back in the day. You can argue that all day but that's my opinion.

Do you know what a black hole is in basketball terms? Harris is a good scorer but (and I had to look this up) he averages 1.2 assists per game. He does not pass the ball. That was what I meant by that.

I'm happy for you that you are invested in this team. I see no reason to be. I will always be invested in MSU football and basketball because MSU is my alma mater. And I do see both competing for championships if not this year then in the very near future.

I'm probably just more cynical than you are when it comes to pro sports, and that likely comes with age and additional responsibilities that consume my time. I would rather watch a rando CFB or NFL game or watch NBA teams that are fun, or have MSU players on them personally.

Yeah wbh i disagree - the pistons are top 10 in team defense this year. Having one of the best defenders in Bradley and the best rebounder in the league is a start. That type of toughness isn’t really apart of basketball with less physicality. Harris isn’t really in a position to drop dimes if you watched the team this year. Drummond is passing the ball significantly more which has always been an issue.

I’d argue I’m more cynical than you, lol. I don’t view college athletics as pure as I did growing up. It’s a business. Just like the pro leagues. Do I like it that way? No, but it is. Look at the scandals and bag men across the board.

The pistons are the only pro team I care about. NFL is just a disgusting league - whether it’s the domestic violence, CTE, faux outrage about peaceful protests, or fans getting stabbed at games. No thanks.

Pistons lose tonight to the lakers and those previous 2 wins don’t mean shit, but if they have a 3-0 West Coast road trip early in the season I think you’ll see a lot more fans at the games this weekend. Who knows what’s beyond that.
