It's funny because it's such a meaningless statement. It could be better. There's a 99.9999% chance that it won't be as good, let alone better, but it COULD be. And the knuckledraggers will lap it up and start proclaiming this defense better than 1997's.

I'd bet most of the wolvie knuckledraggers don't have a clue about the defense that year, all they know is "score points win games me thump chest". I brought up State's defense during the -48 season as a comparison to a few of them, all I got were blank stares.
