So, did all the recruits commit to the Spartans today?

Caleb Furst, a 4*   6'9" 215# PF from Blackhawk Christian HS Fort Wayne IN verbaled to Purdue last week.  MSU, UVA, Butler and Cal were his Final 5.  Furst visited MSU Feb 14. Didn't take an official visit to Purdue yet. Dane Fife was MSU's recruiter.

EL and West Lafayette are both 2 hours from Fort Wayne.

Pierre Brooks is committing Wednesday. Apparently the "Crystal balls" are rolling in for the good guys.

It sounds like MSU is also pushing for a verbal from Jaden Akins. Super athletic 6'3 PG out of Farmington with range. There were no kids like Jaden Akins at Farmington when I went there.

From what I have gathered, the plan even if they're not saying it because they are smart enough to know that shit can change, is to reclassify, which would make 2021 his Sr year. He will be 17 and not old enough for the G League or the NBA even if the NBA changes their early entry rule. The plan even if they're not saying it, is to play the '21/'22 season at MSU as a freshman. The kid and the Dad think that a year of college will be good for his overall arc and brand development. The hope is that NIL is passed and he can earn even while at MSU. If it's not, they would have to look at the tradeoff of making a few bucks overseas or simply "training" vs building brand at MSU. The smart bet is MSU.

After 21/22 MSU season, he will be 18 and not old enough to be drafted unless the NBA changes their rule or makes an exception. The smart bet is that the NBA changes their rule or makes an exception if he proves to be as good as everyone believes him to be. But if not, he would have to choose between a 2nd year at MSU, 1 year in the G League, 1 year overseas, or 1 year training.

I gotta imagine with everything that is going on right now, staying closer to home is even more of a priority for recruits than usual.
