Replay really is the worst thing that’s happened to sports.

I know I’ve said it a million times, but allow replay in all sports but the ref can only watch it two times from two different angles at full speed. If it isn’t obvious enough at that point to overturn it then just leave the call on the field and move on.

And no slow motion. I’m not interested in changing calls because of tiny ways that the players ankle might have twisted. The only good thing about replay is correcting calls that are 100% obviously wrong (ex- if the pitcher has a perfect game and the guy is called safe even though he’s out by a mile.) Beyond those obviously and easily correctable wrong calls, just stop. That applies to all sports.

And now a story that will bore most of you to tears.

Last night the SiL was here watching the end of the Tigers game with me. As usual I was regaling him with stories of becoming a fan in that magical summer of '67 and the even more special summer of '68. He tried to seem interested but I knew he was faking it.

After he left it dawned on me. That was 50 fucking years ago. It would have been like some old guy in 19 and 79 talking to me about the 1929-1930 seasons. No wonder he was bored.

TL:DR Every day I realize that I'm becoming more and more of a boring old fart.

This post is just to remind you that since their last series championship many of us have worked three plus decades as professionals and many have retired. So there’s that.

But at least we can say we’ve been alive for two championships. I still remember opening day in the bleachers in 84 after Morris had no hit the Sox. Great game and then the Windsor Ballet after.
