Interesting, I had never heard of Mize. Last I remember reading about the top pick a few months ago there was no consensus #1 pick and many were thinking that the best player was a 5'5 shortstop or some shit.

I would if it were a big haul. Yankees can pay it. Dodgers. I don't know who else has the system.

I really like the Tiger Stadium clone right field bleachers and porch at Arlington. Sad they're getting a new park.

It's probably the right move with where they are at right now as an organization

If they can fill 2-3 holes with 1 player they have to.

More on Mize:
BA had a draft podcast up on Friday - before Mize's latest masterpiece. The whole pod is worth a listen, but here's what JJ Cooper and Carlos Collazo had to say about Mize...

We have a number one. I don’t know of anyone we talked to that have said ‘No, Casey Mize isn’t number one’. He has such an impressive repertoire, combined with impressive control and command. It’s far and away better than anyone in this class. No one really comes close. You could say it is a six pitch mix, really four, and he mixes them so well. Two 70 grade pitches. A unique pitcher. You don’t normally have a fastball-splitter guy. You do in big leagues, Clemens, Schilling, Ohtani. But when you talk about a college guy doing that as he approaches the draft, there’s not a guy who comes to mind who has had his repertoire. Coming into draft, unless something happens health-wise, I really can’t make the case for anyone else at number one. We’re talking about a guy who doesn’t walk anybody... Had an insane k-bb rate last year, even better this year. To be able to control that arsenal. Not easy to land a splitter and he lands it pretty regularly and hitters can’t touch it. His command of that arsenal makes him the clear cut number one. No one can surpass him at this point, based on performance.

It seems like a lot of people aren't high on his ceiling from what I've read. That he doesn't have "stuff" like the stud Ps out there - Scherzer, Strasburg, JV, etc.

Here's a fresh list....your small guy is now #4 on this list.

Wags, I have to tell you - I find the kids refreshing even as they fuck up. I had pretty much burned out on the lineups of old "stars" failing us every year. Between that, the shitty relievers and the clogged basepaths I was wearing out. At least with the kids there's hope they'll improve for the better and at least its fun to watch them scamper around the bases with joyous abandon.
There seems to be a TON of pitching down on the farm, if some of that pans out they can always buy a hitter or two later to plug in. IT all kind of reminds me of '79 or so when they were breaking that crop in.

Much as I love the CandyMan it will be fun to see another youngster.
Jeimer Candelario placed on the 10 Day DL(wrist); Dawel Lugo has been called up.

Re: 2018 Tigers Thread...
A couple of nights ago I allowed my mind to wander and said "hmmm......" and looked at the AL Standings.
The Tigers only shot at anything is to compete with Cleveland for the Central. Really, to hope that Cleveland continues to be mediocre and never finds their gear. Between Houston, NYY, Boston and the Angels, the wild cards are already spoken for. I guess I could see the Angels falling off but they are pretty stacked this year so I don't deem that likely.

I have to think a bit of sarcasm.
What are the Tigers, about 3-30 against the Tribe over the past 3 seasons?

They NEED Victor to make a graceful exit, he absolutely sucks.
I'm loving the kids playing and would like to see Stewart sharing DH with Miggy.
The heartbreak for these kids is going to be the trade deadline. Even if they're in it
the Tigers must sell Fiers/AWilson/Liriano/Green/Martin/MiggyZimm(I know a miracle required)
any veteran that can bring them prospects. I wouldn't be a bit shocked to see all
5 I first named go which would essentially gut the pitching staff.
As much fun as winning a bit this year may be it's really all about next year and beyond.
Stockpile assets, clear payroll and when you feel you're a player or two away start
spending again. If Avila and Illitch do that I'll be a happy fan.

It’s because they scamper around the bases, isn’t it?

The only kid that is a difference maker in the future that is playing just went on the DL and that is candy.

Jacoby could be. Fulmer, Boyd, Jimenez could be.

Was strictly talking position players. Fulmer is throwing way to many balls at the moment
