Spoon -- They Want My Soul
The way the songs blend into each other ... just the vibe (man) of the whole album ... put on track one and cruise to the end. Plus super catchy Do You and Knock Knock Knock ... a full and complete album.

"For Emma, Forever Ago" sounds great on vinyl. Especially on a cold, snowy night.

Thanks for bringing this to my attention. I haven’t listened to any tool since they got big in the 90s. Never was a huge fan but as a music nut Im curious to check out their current work.

This isn't current. Lateralus is from '01. I heard they are working on something new though. If Tool is a bit too "experimental" for your tastes but you like Maynard Keenan's vocals check out A Perfect Circle.

I haven’t listened to anything close to 2000 albums.

I have never listened completely to a "post 2000' album ever and I am someone who has bought at least 3500 albums and cd's in my life - all before 2000. If I hear more than one song I like by a group I consider that to be a very good group. More than two is a great group.

The only ones I can think of are Death Cab for Cutie's Transatlanticism and Plans, and maybe Taking Back Sunday's Louder Now, and maybe Alkaline Trio's Crimson.

This album is a bona fide masterpiece. Sure, sure, sure... I had the same reaction when it came out - I loved the song "The Black Parade" but didn't give MCR much credit as a band. In fact, they're incredible and this album is in my Top 10 all-time. Every single song is great. "I Don't Love You" and "Famous Last Words" are two of my favorites but very song is outstanding. These are a bunch of Jersey kids that just love rock 'n roll. You can hear a lot of influences throughout the record. Also, props to lead singer Gerard Way quitting the band at their apex and going back to comic book illustrating.
The Libertines - Up The Bracket
The Libertines - The Libertines
Best rock 'n roll band of the 2000s. Wish they hadn't broken up when they did. A perfect disaster.
Interpol - Turn On The Bright Lights
Groundbreaking album when this was released. Every fucking song rocks. Played this album non-stop for like two years straight. Saw them in NYC after this album was released and after the show we hit a local Irish bar. On our way out we saw Carlos D walk by with two hottie alt rocker chicks. The streets were empty. I said "My boy Carlos" and he gave me a thumbs up...
The Strokes - Is This it?
One of the best all-time debuts in my opinion. Phenomenal record.
Bloc Party - Silent Alarm
Tokyo Police Club - A Lesson in Crime
Not a true album, only 26 minutes long. But oh, what an awesome 26 minutes... Love these guys.
Bright Eyes - Digital Ash In A Digital Urn
Probably a very controversial choice but I'm willing to take the risk. My favorite Bright Eyes album and it's not even close. Flame away. "Take It Easy (Love Nothing)" is in my Top 10 all-time favorite tracks list.
The Postal Service - Give Up
Light and airy, beautiful and happy. Love this record.
The Dandy Warhols - Welcome To The Monkeyhouse
Another controversial choice but I prefer this album.
Grandaddy - Sunday
Very nice, unique record with some great tunes.
Winterkids - Wonderland (EP)
I still can't believe that these guys broke up. Very fun alternative pop band with super catchy tunes. Very light.
Brighteyes - blech!!!

The first 1/2 is a great work. The tracks after "I don't love" were pretty meh for me. Any band would love to have songs like "This is how I disappear" or "the sharpest lives" in their toolbox though.
