Another lovely morning in East Lansing. Clear, mid-50's.

My pal, Emily (WLNS meteorologist), said the humidity is gonna start creeping back up this afternoon. Urgh.

Forecast is for 86 degrees at kickoff here, with a 15% chance of rain. Rain chance jumps to 60% at 11pm, and is supposed to be storming all weekend after that. So as long as the game gets over before the storms start to roll in, we should be good on satellite reception at the bar.

local media is making a big deal out of how warm it's expected to be in Tempe on Saturday. Heard them saying the high is predicted to be around 107 degrees... probably into the upper 80's at kickoff.

what do y'all think??

I know it's hard compare Tempe, AZ and East Lansing, MI - but it's been a hot, humid summer in EL - I'm guessing that the coaching staff has been making certain that players are steadily acclimated. I'm also guessing that staff has been drilling "hydration" into their heads all week.

I'm not saying MSU won't be impacted by it.. but I suspect Arizona State might be impacted by it, as well. I don't see it having a precipitous impact on the actual outcome of the game.

As someone who has lived in the humid midwest and the dry southwest, it is much easier to stay functional in dry heat. These are athletes. And young. If it's easier for me, it'll be much easier for them.

yeah - I think they'll both be quite acclimated and any factor it might be will impact both teams.

more than anything, the team with the most depth, which I suspect is MSU, should handle it better.

I'm more worried about how I'm gonna handle a 10:45 PM kickoff. Shocked

yeah - it's why Mannie and the guys work them hard all summer. I'm pretty sure the strength and conditioning staff knew MSU was playing in Tempe in early September.

Per MLive for Saturday in State College..

Tailgating temperatures and the temperature at the start of the mid-afternoon game should hover around 50 degrees. Temperatures won't move much, warmer or colder, during the game. The temperature will back down to around 47 degrees by the end of the game.

sounds like pretty darn good football weather to me - still interesting to see if the rain from the hurricane might sweep up that way.
