“Blowing it up” and “tanking” doesn’t really make very much sense when you consider that the team doesn’t operate in a vacuum and there are already 7 other teams doing that every year. Considering that only one team has ever really had success with that strategy (and even that is only a second round of the playoffs appearance so far) it probably isn’t a great idea most of the time.

Consider some of the players that can be had if you draft well enough in the 8-20 range... steph curry, Donovan Mitchell, giannis, etc etc. blowing the team up to try to get a top pick only slightly increases the likelihood that your #4 pick isn’t going to be garbage. A lot of the time they are still garbage. And you’re left with nothing. I realize some people think it’s the end all be all strategy of building a team... but that just isn’t true.

Yeah, trav - duff is the armchair gm that think it's tank or nothing(which has been proved, overall, not to work). obviously the pistons aren't in a great spot but it's a business and I have my doubts that Gores is going to tank when he finally has an all star or 2, paying Griffin all that cash.

it's a tired message board argument that just goes back and forth, not really worth responding to anymore. I'll continue to watch the Pistons as it's good basketball and see what they do. It's really just a professional sports team. One team a year wins the ship, and it's been the warriors and lebron. whatever.

Spot on goose. The Griffin iso worked earlier in the year but teams have adjusted - he needs to get that ball out of his hands quicker ala Nick Ward.

I have to wonder how Reggie Jackson is feeling after being left out of the 4th quarter, again - for Jose Calderon. Is he really that worthless on the trade market that the Stones can't get ANYTHING for him?

I don't think he is necessarily in the doghouse, I just don't think he fits with what Casey is trying to do - especially when compared to SVG's use of Jackson with all that pick n roll action. Calderon hasn't been playing poorly, at least from what I've seen.

With Reggie prone to go hero ball and ruin games, I don't mind it.
