Yeah, IU is not good but they give our team all they can handle. Hope we don’t face them again in the tournament.

It’s obvious every big ten coach has geared the scheme to completely abandon one guy on offense, and use the extra defender to fill gaps.
We need to scheme around it if we don’t have someone else available to play.

Oh. I didn't notice how obvious it was that Beilein figured it out.

They've shown up for three games all year. MSU twice and Marquette. Id be pissed as an IU fan that Archie can't get them to play with consistent effort

I’m sick of that drunk little Eyetalion elf. Get some new sets. I figured him out in 2007. Hasn’t changed one bit. Offensive sets inbounds plays timeouts match up defense. He’s an open book.

Does Henry not have the green light from the staff? Shoot the fucking ball. He made the one 3 he took today - other times he went tum tum mode. At least they will guard it if he shoots and makes 1 or 2.

It did seem like he was scared to shoot.
Have to be more confident with the first move. A lot of panic today by the 3-4 positions.
When IU stopped guarding our 4, things came to a halt.

He took 2 3s today and made 1. Not sure he has a great 3 point % on the year.
And he took more shots today than he has in any game this year.
I wish he would have committed to driving more though.

The offense became stand around and wait for cash to do something because no one seems can take the ball to the basket and we have no back to the basket post player. Tilman made one move out of a post entry I think. IU got back better as well in the second half and owed down the transition game

It looked like it was down to Cash left to create everything in their half court sets and they sent multiple defenders after him. Needed a second guy that could get buckets.
Lot of sloppy play today as well. Some really dumb turnovers and we were getting beat on the glass. Pretty frustrating loss.

Completely noticed that myself and you guys know how much I need to basketball. I also noticed he was shy after he’d miss a shot so I wondered if he was getting yelled at for missing or something

Then I guess that means we are worse than awful, because I see no reason to believe they couldn't beat us again if we play them in the B1G tournament. Do you think we're worse than awful?
Also weren't you the one who lost your shit when we lost to an "awful" Louisville team? Forgive me if I put zero stock in your ability to evaluate college basketball teams.

Re: Win this shit for doc @IU
We are in trouble I think. To run out of gas like we did after basically a week off....not good.
I am not one to criticize the staff typically. I certainly don't see what they see day in and day out. But I believe if we run out of gas, that is on them. My opinion (and I said it then) is that when they found out that Josh was done for the year, it was time to go through the growing pains. And it was time to start heavily incorporating Kithier, Loyer, Brown and even Bingham. And that we would be a better team come tourney time because of it. Not necessarily because those guys would have grown into great players by then, but because at least our core would be fresh.
I believe that was Izzo's intent, but the staff has gotten too caught up during individual games and doesn't follow through. I get it - trying to win a championship. It's hard to take the best player in the conference out and replace him with a midget who can't get out of his own head right now. Or to replace Tillman with a toothpick. It was a calculated risk. Now I fear though we may come up empty handed and also gas ourselves out of the dance early. Hope I'm wrong.
At this point, regardless of what happens in the reg season I just want an early loss in the BTT because I feel that sets us up a little better for a run. And I think if we get to the Sweet 16, that would be a good run. Even with Nick back.

Re: Win this shit for doc @IU
Today was a perfect example of why Ward is so important. Hopefully this game will squash the redic notion that he should come off the bench when he returns.
Our run game has been non-existent the last two games. When we were clicking in January, we had excellent ball movement. And that usually starts by throwing it into Ward. The last two games we've relied way too much on the high screen for Cash. He went hero vs. Mich, but it is just not sustainable for the long haul. Up 6 with 3:30 left to go, you feed Ward and the game is over. That glue in his hand better be holding.

Disagree. We've already locked up a double bye. So early punch out is losing the first game. A 1st game loss will effect our seed. Losing Sat or Sun, not as much. And playing 2 vs. 3 games doesn't matter. To have a shot, we need to get Ward back for the start of the BTT and get on a roll.

Yeah. I don't know enough about Brown's game. I know he's a dead eye shooter and we could use that skillset. I'm sure he gets lost in the screen game from time to time on D. I think that might be worth the tradeoff possibly but whatever.
Loyer...I don't know. The deficiencies were on Defense coming in. I don't see a ton of that anymore. I saw none of it today. I have a pretty good feel for his game. The regression on the Offensive end is striking. I feel like he came into this season and his playing time basically with his mind made up that he was not going to look for his own shot at all and merely run the offense and distribute. Couple that with getting his shot rejected a few times early on and he just has gone into a shell. It's crazy that this guy can't even make wide open 3s. This kid was good from the hash/Respert mark more often than not in HS. He's totally mind fucked. Hope he gets over it. He doesn't need much time. 2 minutes per half would be plenty. Play him before the 8 min timeout or the 12 min timeout in each half. In the first half when he was on the court we went from +10 to +8 and none of the buckets were on him. Do the same damn thing in the second half.
Bingham - I'd just like to get him some minutes at the 4. Spell Kenny a bit. Is it possible to time this so it doesn't coincide with FL's minutes or GB's minutes? I'd like to think so. DJ is supposedly responsible for the substitutions but he definitely gets overrules by Izzo in the second half. Let's figure out a pattern here where these guys can each play ~ 4 min per game and not all be on the court at the same time.
Whatever. My Wildcats won today. So that's something.

Gabe Brown and Bingham demonstrated early on they could hit threes. Wish that was something we could figure out how to utilize a little more throughout the season to maybe provide a spark off the bench. Oh well. It’s been a fun season to follow at least. Hopefully they can string something together for the tournament and go on a run.

Such a weird sport. We go into Ann Arbor last Sunday, we play pretty damn good, and all of us are thinking, "hey this team has a shot to get to the second weekend and maybe more". On week later, we sit here on a Sunday, bummed out and wondering if there's a real possibility of not making it to the second weekend again.
Lick our wounds and soldier on. Izzo is still the man.
