The other Notre Dame. Damn. How shitty must you feel if you're the guy that started this fire? Assuming it's an accident.

Old, old dry wood, not easy to stop once it gets started. Water tankers may not be that crazy of an idea.

Except like somebody replied to Trump, dumping 800,000 pounds (or whatever) of water on old dry wood would probably just collapse it.

So sad to see it go. Just a beautiful building. I couldn’t get enough of the exterior architecture. Walked all around it a couple of times, taking it all in. Never got inside. The lines were ain’t nobody got time for that long, but I was content to soak up everything on the outside.

There the libs go again, twisting the numbers. '800,000 pounds!" as if it would all hit the same place at the same time. Truth is, most large firefighting aircraft can only drop maybe 20,000# of water/retardant at a time.Floyd Robertson wrote:I.B. Fine wrote:Old, old dry wood, not easy to stop once it gets started. besides...CNN themselves said the French didn't have any water tankers available.

The backside courtyard was amazing and there was no one there. Everyone is queued up around front waiting to get in. I'm glad we (and by we I mean my wife) waited and we to the top a few years ago.

Fuckin libs amirite.
For real though the president is an old man with a twitter account and arguing the specifics of these things that he obviously didn’t think about before he wrote it is pretty silly my man.

Which they later corrected after French officials told them they had the ability but....wait for it...air drops would have collapsed the structure.

Maybe they thought there was something to save at the time rather than immediately doom the structure to collapse. CNN, specifically Chris Cuomo, was just speculating when he said the French didn’t have the ability.
On a different note, Chris Cuomo is absolutely horrible. Terrible to listen to.

That’s really cool. I couldn’t get enough of the gargoyles. I do wish we’d gone back and waited, mostly because I love old churches and all the human work put into making them special—the paintings, wood- and stone work is mind bottling.

Re: Notre Dame is on fire!
How does a large old structure possibly survive a fire without water to help put it out? If in-fact the French had the ability to drop water/retardant but didn't, they doomed the place. Yet another surrender by France.Turtleneck wrote:Maybe they thought there was something to save at the time rather than immediately doom the structure to collapse. Holy fucking shit. This country is fucked. The fact that one side can't see that their emperor God with no clothes could possibly be wrong is not a good sign.
Trump is a moron, the fact people defend anything he does, regardless of how wrong it is. Like staring into an eclipse (2 pages of defending why that's in fact genius coming up) is asinine.
Blame the French and Mexican immigrants on Notre Dame going up in flames.
