I think CC's chances got tainted by the media during the pre-draft. Just think, if he had performed in a pre-season game as poorly as Nathan Peterman did in a regular game, no team would ever look at him again. And yet, Peterman gets signed by the team that let go of CC. Go figure. And CC had so little reps with the first team in the regular games he did play for the Raiders, the center had never heard his voice. Because of the negative media perception he gets no leeway in the evaluation.

Throwing him into a playoff game was also insane. Did nothing for his confidence or reputation

He got severe criticism for his performance in that game with no acknowledgement that he had been given, as QB3, 4 to 8 reps a WEEK with the THIRD team all season. Somehow he was expected to walk in and do what Carr did all season without ever having practiced with the first team. Raiders did practically nothing for his development in seasons one and two. And then Gruden comes along. Who knows what happened with him--he's very impatient with QBs. Both CC and EJ Manuel got let go for a player who hasn't proven anything more... who got let go for a player who's proven he is worse.
