IIRC, Scherzer wanted out and there was no way he was going to re-sign w/Detroit.

Why would he? The Tigers are a fucking joke.

They are now, but not exactly a joke back when Max was in the rotation. Can’t remember specifics, but for some reason I remember it was the city he didn’t like. Or maybe he didn’t want to be in JV’s shadow. I can’t recall and it’s been so long, it doesn’t really matter.
