Probably some posturing going on. Fickell was probably (rightly) thinking that he was the only real choice, which strengthens his position, so it might make sense for MSU to say, Nah, we are still looking around.

Honestly reading between the lines right now I think it comes out today that there is an agreement in place and he's the next HC. Comp mentioned potentially clearing his calendar for a pc tomorrow. Others are saying maybe Monday. But yes I think we will know he is our HC today and everyone is mostly on the same page here and it would take a monumental fuck up for this not to happen at this stage.

Honestly, this is a brilliant point. I had heard that he was the only candidate that had already been vetted through the AD, donors, and BOT, but it would probably be smart to scour any possible police reports, social media, etc. Heck, can we get Kathy Redmond to go on record as to whether she has any made up mafia boss-like scenarios yet for Fickell?

Still not sure how saying that he's not the only one that we would look at means that there's no offer, or that the offer has been pulled. But whatever helps create an argument in your head.
