I would guess a standard response would be that a search firm has been hired...we're still looking at candidates...and, that it's a process. No one is going to admit Fickell has been hired this fast.

Some Cincy reporter (I think) is saying that he's hearing that recruits are being told that Fickell is staying. Same guy also within the last hour has said that he's hearing he's going to MSU.

But before people freak out about recruits being told he's staying, keep in mind that the quickest way to notify those recruits of that, would be to tell the whole world at once. It seems that if Fickell decides to stay, it would be immediately announced, not a hush hush, quiet word to recruits.

every minute he doesn't announce he's staying is a positive for MSU. the whole world knows MSU is interested/has offered, so if he hasn't publicly turned it down, that's pretty much a good sign for MSU.

obviously, it's possible he's using it for leverage against UC, but he still hasn't turned it down.

How do you know this is happening? Do you have a link that states Ferguson is having us look into minority candidates or that the BOT needs to be appeased? Haven't seen anything regarding this.

Marvin Lewis didn’t want MSU’s job more that a decade ago and used his interviews to get an NFL job.

There might be a lot of reasons for any BoT board member or even the new President to pump the brakes on this.

Hiring Fickell the next day would have looked like a pretty rushed process.

I think we're all speculating at this point. If some BoT member was talking to reporters about it, that would be a bigger problem.

I heard the only holdup was Fickells insistence on turning Rocky into a TE and banning the short side jet sweep. BOT is now wavering on such a radical change in philosophy. Can’t reveal my source. But he’s currently up on Tum Tum 12-4 in a pick up game.

That's reasonable, these takes on Ferguson just seem paranoid and a little far fetched. Not saying Ferguson hasn't done fucked up shit in the past but usually the fucked up shit he's done in the past has been reported in the papers.
